I grinned as I saw the stubborn expression on her face. “Notthatexhausted, babe.”
I had something else to give her, but I had a feeling she wouldn’t be all that excited about that one.
I’d talk to her about that…later.
Her lips curved up into a seductive smile that made my already hard cock just a little harder as she accused, “You’re insatiable.”
“Guilty,” I said huskily. “But if you’re too tired or too sore from our marathon weekend, I’d happily just go to sleep as long as you’re with me in my bed.”
She started to slowly unbutton my dress shirt. “Not a chance, mister. I’m about to be deprived of my stud for almost a week. I’m going to miss you, Wyatt.”
I picked her up and headed for the stairs with a lump in my throat.
It felt damn good to hear her say that because I was going to fucking miss her, too.

Iwoke up suddenly in the middle of the night the following evening.
A quick glance at the clock told me it was after three in the morning.
Wyatt and I had gone out for dinner, and then relaxed at home because I was leaving for Montana in the morning. We’d wanted to spend as much time as possible together.
We’d gone to bed early, but we hadn’t slept until around midnight.
Wyatt had been determined to show me how much he was going to miss me, and I certainly hadn’t complained about making it an early night. I didn’t think I could ever get enough of Wyatt Durand, and he acted like he felt the same way.
I reached out my hand reflexively so I could get closer to his warm, welcoming body. I usually fell asleep in his arms, and we woke up tangled together, but all I felt when I reached for him was cool sheets.
“Wyatt?” I called sleepily, wondering what he was doing up this late.
I rolled onto my back, concerned that something might be wrong. The room was dark except for a very dim strip of light that was coming from under the closed bathroom door.
I was startled when Wyatt suddenly came barreling through the bathroom door fully dressed.
What in the hell is he doing?
He didn’t look like he was headed to his office for some kind of emergency. He was wearing jeans and an older T-shirt.
I sat up in bed, totally awake now. “What’s wrong?”
Something wasn’t right.
His expression was grim, and he was all business as he replied. “I have to go out. I’m not sure how long I’ll be. I planned on driving you to the airport in the morning, but I’m not sure I’ll be back in time.”
I lifted a hand to push the hair out of my face as I replied, “That’s fine. I can get there on my own. Are you okay? Where are you going? Is something going on at work?”
I was seriously concerned now. Wyatt hadn’t been this abrupt with me in a long time, even when he was upset with work issues.
Usually, he talked to me about almost anything that was on his mind.
At least, I thought he did.
He came to the side of the bed and looked down at me. “Not exactly,” he said evasively as he raked a hand through his hair. “Fuck! There’s something I should have told you about, but I can’t do it right now. We’ll talk when I get to Montana and I’ll explain everything.”
Wyatt’s demeanor was so out of character that it worried me even more. “You can’t even tell me where you’re going?”
He shook his head. “Not without telling you everything, and I don’t have that kind of time right now. Trust me?”
