He shifts his pretty eyes to me, a smile dancing on his lips as his expression brightens. “I want to be your guy, Midnight. I want to be with you forever.”

My chest feels too tight with the joy his words bring. “But you understand the risks and the sacrifices?”

“I’ve spent my life wandering around looking for a reason for my existence other than being my dad’s son. We both knew a long time ago that I wasn’t going to follow him into the business world. That’s Pilar’s job.”

“Pilar?”

“My other sister. She’s wicked smart and she’s gonna run the world someday.” He blows out a breath, playing with my fingers. “But me? I’m just a trophy son. I’m gay, and I never wanted kids anyway, so I won’t even continue the family name. When all this came up with Lucia, I finally felt like I had a purpose. Now I know that wasn’t it. That was just the vehicle to bring our lives together. My purpose is you, Midnight. Loving you is the reason I was born. Any sacrifices are minimal compared to what I get.”

Gripping his hands, I hold them to my chest. “Tru, do you have any idea what this means to me?”

“Yeah.” He smiles. “You waited so long for someone to love you the way you deserve. Now you can let it all out. Shower it on me, baby. I can take it.”

I pull him close, pressing our lips together, and as he said, finally breaking the seal on this dusty old heart of mine. “I will never stop loving you,” I whisper, inhaling him. “Never.”

“I know,” he whispers back. “Now, you sexy, dangerous beast. I want you to fuck me so hard I forget my name, and then I want you to make me yours. Forever.”

“You don’t want to wait? Sleep on it?”

He smiles, brushing his fingers across my cheek as he presses my hand to his chest over his heart. “You tell me.”

The thump of his heart, beating in perfect time with mine, the calm whoosh of his emotions, the bubbling well of love inside him, brings tears to my eyes.

“Believe me?” Tru asks.

“I do.”

“So you’ll do it?”

“Absolutely.”

ChapterThirty-Two

TRU

Ishould be nervous.

Why aren’t I nervous?

I just told Midnight I’m ready to become a vampire, and that thought is both bizarre and weirdly comforting. But I feel calm. More than calm. I feel safe and serene, a word I’m pretty sure I’ve never used about myself before.

Midnight scoops me off the couch and carries me to the bedroom, where he lays me down on the bed. Hovering over me, he begins taking my shoes off, then my socks, and finally my jeans. I tug my own shirt off before rubbing the growing bulge in my briefs while Midnight’s eyes roam over me like I’m the prey he chased and caught. Okay, hot as fuck, not gonna lie.

Midnight peels his own clothes off slowly, almost like a striptease, and with each discarded piece, my desire for his touch grows until I’m nearly vibrating off the bed. It’s not like we haven’t had sex before, but something about this feels different. Feels like…more.

Midnight crawls onto the bed like a cat, sleek and stealthy, his eyes glowing, and I watch in pure amazement as his fangs descend right before my eyes.

“Did that happen on its own?” I ask.

He nods, licking his lips. “Because of how much I want you. How much I need you.”

“I’m all yours, vamp.”

Then he descends on me, fully enveloping my body as his mouth finds mine. I wrap my arms around his neck, rubbing against him like a cat in heat, moaning every time his cock catches mine. I’ve never been kissed like this. Never felt it in every part of me. Never feltclaimed, but that’s what Midnight does to me. I swear I could come just from making out with him.

Fortunately, I don’t have to find out. Midnight rises to his knees, tearing my briefs off with ease. I gasp as the cool air meets my hard cock, arching my back and keening for his touch.

“So fucking beautiful,” Midnight whispers as he drags his hand down my belly. “I want to devour you, Tru.”
