Page 44 of Forever Midnight

“Midnight,” I cry out, rutting against him as he holds me tight, his face buried in the crook of my neck.

I dig my nails into his shoulders and he bites me a little harder, sending another shock through me. Why does it feel like this with him?

“Fuck, I want you inside me, Midnight. Please.”

Midnight moans in response. “I bet you feel amazing.”

“Find out. Take me.”

“Patience, chaton féroce.

“Unf. I love when you speak French to me.”

“Veux tu…tu veux que je te chuchotes des pensées coquines?”

“No idea what that means, but yes, keep doing it.”

Midnight chuckles. “Mon beau trésor, mon doux chéri, mon tendre désir. Ma raison d’être ruiné.”

My chest tightens with his words, both foreign yet somehow completely familiar.

“More,” I beg.

“L’objet de mon plaisir. Mon chéri, ma faiblesse.” He kisses my neck. “Ma joie.”

Our bodies move in sync, both of us breathing hard and stealing kisses as we chase an orgasm. I want him inside me, on top of me, all around me. His words, his kisses, leave me breathless and dizzy.

Midnight hooks his arm under my knee, pulling it up so we get even closer. With my eyes closed, I fall over the edge, clinging to Midnight as words I’ve never spoken before slip from my lips.

“Mon prince ténébreux.”

Midnight stills, his arms tightening around me, our bodies sticky with my release.

“Tru,” he whispers, my name dragging slightly. “How did you…”

“I don’t know,” I admit. “It just came out of me. I don’t speak French.”

It takes several seconds for Midnight to look up, his eyes searching mine.

“Do you feel weird when we touch too?” I ask. “Like, I don’t know, a shock of electricity?”

His mouth falls open. “Yes.”

“There’s a connection of some kind between us. Do you believe in soulmates, Midnight?”

“No. I used to, but…I don’t know anymore.”

“But you have to admit something is happening between us. Right? Or am I just going crazy?”

“Something is happening,” he admits. “I’ve made a mess of you.”

I’m all too aware of his attempt to change the subject. “Do you regret being with me?”

“No,” he answers quickly. “Absolutely not. It was wonderful.”

“Is it over? Was it one and done?”

Midnight shifts his gaze away from me as he sits up. “I desire you, Tru. I enjoy your company. I want to get to know you more.”
