Landon’s choked laughter filled the room, an echo that would haunt me for years, if not forever. There was something in his eyes, a spark of defiance despite the position he was in, that made my skin crawl. But still, he didn’t confirm or deny that he was indeed the one who was stalking me.

But Easton didn’t care. When I heard the slamming of Easton’s fist connecting with Landon’s face, I covered my face in horror. I was convinced that the only way Landon was still upright was because of the hold Easton had on his neck.

Nash glanced back at me before he turned back to Landon. “What the fuck are you doing? Why are you coming forward now?”

“Because,” Landon started, and I assumed Easton loosened the grip on his neck to give him a chance to speak, “my mission is complete.”

I dropped my hands from my face in shock. Wait a minute. Was Landon admitting to stalking me because the higher-ups in the Chevalier world had wanted him to?What the fuck? I swear, at this point, I still have more questions than answers.

Easton’s voice broke through my thoughts, and I watched as he turned to look at Nash. “How much trouble would I get in for killing someone who is also a member of the Chevaliers? Because I’m willing to risk it all.”

And that was when the stakes changed.

EASTON

With my fist clenched and my heart pounding, I stood in the same building where I professed that I would dedicate my life to serving the Chevaliers. And where one of them had betrayed me.

What occurred in the basement of this place replayed in my mind as I tried to take deep breaths. My knuckles ached with the desire to slam into Landon’s smug face. To wipe that shit-eating grin off his lips and make him pay for what he’d done, once and for all.

Landon tried to roll his shoulders back while I held him up against the wall. Fucker wasn’t even worried.

It was interesting how much confidence he had for someone who was just minutes away from death.

I glared at the man in front of me before turning to Nash. “How much trouble would I get in for killing someone who is also a member of the Chevaliers? Because I’m willing to risk it all.”

And I meant every word.

The next moment, everything went to shit. Landon took advantage of my momentary lapse of attention and lunged at me. I swung first, but he dodged my hand and his fist landed on my jaw. Pain exploded through my skull. I stumbled back, vision blurring, but I refused to give up.

Fists were flying in every direction as Nash joined in on the fight. It was obvious that Landon was a trained fighter because he was able to dodge some hits and land a few of his own, even though he was up against two people.

I could smell the metallic scent of fresh blood as it filled the air as we fought each other, and it only enraged me further.

I hated that Bianca was witnessing it, but I couldn’t get myself to stop.

Landon pushed me off him briefly, sending me backward slightly before I caught myself. “Is that all you got?” he exclaimed as his eyes darted between Nash and me.

It wasn’t. Not by a long shot.

Deep within me, a roar started, making its way up from my gut, and I charged at him once more. This time, my fist found its mark.

Landon’s head snapped to the side, blood flying from his mouth. It was obvious to me that he hadn’t been expecting the hit as he spat the blood out before proceeding to swing at me wildly.

I ducked and slammed my knee into his stomach. Landon proceeded to double over with a grunt. Before I could do anything else, Nash kicked him in the chest, and then I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him upright.

“Do you have any last words?”

Before Landon could respond, a loud yell filled the air. “Enough!”

Everyone froze at the sound of the voice. Parker Townsend, chairman of every chapter of the Chevaliers in New York State, walked the room.

“Cut it the fuck out.” Parker’s glare shifted from me to Nash and then to Landon. “I will not tolerate this kind of behavior.”

“Not until this fucker is dead,” I called out.

“Watch your tone with me, Beaumont.”
