“Did someone talk to Kane?” I grabbed my purse. “I need a ride to Quinn’s. Please.”
“Kane is on his way to Quinn’s, but he wants you to call him. Here’s my cell.” Gabby pulled up his number, then gave her cell to me.
“And we’re all going with you,” Everlee said.
“You can fill us in on the way,” Leighton added, taking my hand.
I held up Gabby’s phone to my ear as we rushed down the stairs and to Gabby’s car.
“Gabby?” Kane asked.
“It’s Wynter.” I climbed into the front seat while Everlee and Leighton got into the back.
“What the hell is going on?”
“Kane, Quinn’s going to do something horrible. We just found out that Adam was raping Bell. Kyler didn’t kill her in the school shooting, they made a suicide pact because she was pregnant with her father’s kid.”
Audible gasps filled the car. Gabby shifted into reverse and burned rubber, realizing how screwed up the situation was and that Quinn was in trouble.
“I’m afraid he’s going to kill him, Kane. Please tell me you’re close.” I choked on a sob, hoping someone could get there fast enough to stop Quinn from ruining his life.
“I’m pulling up to his house now. If no one answers, I’ll break a fucking window. I can’t let my boy go down like that.”
A small flicker of relief blasted through me. “I’m on my way. I called the cops, too. Be careful, Kane.”
We hung up, and my leg bounced like crazy as Gabby sped to Quinn’s place. Minutes later, I jumped out of the car before Gabby had even fully stopped. The front door was open and I rushed through it, stopping long enough to try and track where the noise was coming from. Adam’s office.
Sirens reached my ears as I bolted down the hall, slowing the last few feet to creep up to the office door. I wasn’t sure who was in control at the moment, but I finally heard Kane’s calm voice.
“Don’t do it, Q. Give me the gun.” I peeked into the room. Quinn was straddling Adam, pointing the weapon at his father’s head. Adam was whiter than a ghost and frozen in terror. Served the motherfucker right.
Somehow having enough sense to not make a sudden move, I slowly joined Kane and Quinn.
“Quinn. I’m here. Baby, don’t do it. The cops are on the way. Put the gun down.”
Quinn’s tear-stained cheeks were red and his eyes puffy.
“Babe, I need to tell you something else. While you were gone this weekend, I also gathered the evidence on Adam’s computer that we had, then turned it over to the police. The police will arrest him as soon as they get here.” I glanced at Kane. “For pedophilia. As soon as we can get the evidence to prove that Bell was pregnant with his kid, he’ll be in prison for a long time. You and Brody are finally free.”
Quinn stared at me, but I wasn’t sure if he was comprehending what I was saying. His grip loosened on the firearm, and Kane grabbed Quinn’s arm, aiming the barrel toward the celling before he wrestled it away from him.
Heavy footsteps approached, and Kane shoulder-checked Quinn, knocking him off Adam and onto the floor. Kane used his shirt to wipe the fingerprints from the gun, then stepped on Adam’s chest and wrapped his hand around the weapon. Even though Adam could fight and rat Kane out in court, he was about to be a convicted felon, which meant his word didn’t mean shit. Plus, there were three witnesses against one.
Shaking so hard that I could no longer stand, I sank to the floor and crawled over to Quinn.
“Let me do the talking,” Kane said quietly before Adam’s office was filled with the police.
I kissed Quinn’s cheek. “Baby, are you okay?”
Quinn looked at me and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Thanks to you and Kane, I think I will be.” He planted a kiss on my forehead, then whispered, “Thank you.”
Chapter51
Quinn
Oddly enough, I received a call from Sutton as the police were slapping handcuffs on Adam and arresting him. I updated her as quickly as I could. Sutton gasped when I told her about Bell’s pregnancy, and she said she would find out if there was a way to get a DNA sample to prove Adam was the father. I wanted as much proof as possible to put the sorry bastard behind bars for a long-ass time.
The police confiscated Adam’s laptop and searched the house, leaving it a fucking mess. By then, Gabby had called Brie, Kane’s fiancée, and she’d joined us at my place.
