“Minor injuries only.”
“Are you just saying that to calm me?”
“Yes.” Brandon smirked. “We have a few cuts and bruises but nothing life threatening.”
“I’m not sure if I can trust your judgment on this.” She tried for an amused smile. “After all, you thought it was a good idea to get out of bed with a broken back.”
Brandon grinned and Niev bent over, inspecting the healing process. She seemed pleased and watched carefully as Kyle’s tissue grew back together. Here and there she added a few more drops of her blood to help the healing along while Kyle slowly relaxed.
“Just a little longer, Kyle,” she soothed him, looking up to Seth who had come into her sight.
“How is he?”
“In pain but healing. I would like to take a look at everyone else.”
“They are all fine. You should rest, it’s been a rough few days for you,” Seth tried to reason with her.
Blake felt that even though she appreciated his concerns, they also angered her and quickly chimed in. “Seth, can you hold Kyle’s leg in place while I help Niev?”
Seth nodded and took over so Blake could finally wrap his arms around his beautiful mate. He pulled her close to his chest, her skin’s touch tingling his. He bent his head down and buried his nose in her hair, taking in her precious vanilla scent. She relaxed into his arms, tension fading into thin air as they held each other.
He felt tears run down his chest, tears of relief. “I missed you so much,”
“I’m here now, beautiful.” He picked her up and allowed her to wrap her legs around his waist.
She cupped his face with her hands and pressed her lips to his. For a moment, the world around them disappeared–it was only the two of them. Her lips gently moved over his, her tongue pushing inside of his mouth and spreading her delicious taste. Her hands moved over his jawline toward his neck and grabbed his hair, pulling him deeper into the kiss. His heart pounded in his chest, mirroring her heartbeat.
She was with him again and his world seemed lighter, his heart stronger. All the pain from the past few days was forgotten. She was his everything, and she was finally safe and sound, back in his arms where she belonged. Blake tightened his arms around her and pulled her even closer to him, not willing to ever lose her again.
“Okay you two need to find a room, because I’m not ready to see what is about to happen,” Tristan laughed somewhere close.
Niev pulled back and unwrapped her legs. A little disappointed, he gently sat her back on the ground. She turned to Tristan and gasped as he came closer.
“You look awful!”
“Thanks. Just what I wanted to hear,” he chuckled.
“Come here, I’ll fix that for you.”
He shook his head. “It should heal just fine.”
“I prefer not to see half of your skull while looking at you. Now sit down so I can reach.”
Blake smiled as he watched Tristan obey, having no choice but to let her heal him. After she’d healed him she returned to Kyle, who’s wounds were mostly healed. She added a few more drops before turning to all the other warriors and healing their injuries as well.
Blake didn’t leave her side once. He could feel her exhaustion, but also her determination to make sure everyone was taken care of before she relaxed into his arms. He carried her to the front steps of the mansion and sat down, cradling her to his chest.
“What now?” she asked quietly, running her fingers over his bare chest.
“Father will send us a car, and then I’ll take you home.”
Seth sat down next to them. “How did you break the Lycan’s command?”
Niev’s curiosity awoke. “What happened exactly?”
“When we attacked, the Lycan was able to command us. It was like an alpha’s command, only much stronger,” Blake explained.
A shiver ran down her spine, goosebumps appearing all over her arms. “And that even without you in his pack?”
