“I’m yours,” she pressed between her lips.
Her mind started to spin as his thrusts became harder and more irregular. His shaft finally jerked within her, spilling his hot cum, a shudder running over her skin as he filled her.
He gently picked her up and laid her on the bed, kissing her cheek. “Was I too rough?”
She couldn’t answer, her breathing was still heavy, so she only shook her head.
He nodded and kissed her again before leaning over to the nightstand. Grabbing some tissues, his chest quickly rising up and down, he kneeled in front of her and gently cleaned her up.
She was a little embarrassed by it and sat up, taking the tissues out of his hands. “I don’t mind doing that.”
He looked up and seemed a little torn. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you. I just wanted to help.”
His sweetness melted her heart. “I know you didn’t, it’s just… no one has ever done that for me.”
“I don’t mind cleaning you. Whatever makes you most comfortable I’ll do.”
He got up and handed her one of his t-shirts from the dresser. She pulled it over her head and waited for him to come to bed. She laid her head on his chest, his arms wrapped around her.
“Rest up, beautiful.” He kissed her as she closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
The next morning, Niev woke up early to a cold and empty bed. She’d hoped to wake up in Blake’s warm arms, but he must have left while she was still asleep. His covers looked as if he’d slept in the bed, so she was glad he at least was able to find a little rest throughout the night. She got out of bed and quickly found a pair of jeans and a shirt.
Wanting to go see Christa and Tristan as soon as possible, she rushed down the stairs to grab breakfast. As she passed by Tanner’s office, she heard a muttered argument. She was curious, but didn’t want to seem as if she was spying and quickly walked past it into the kitchen.
To her surprise, Mayra was already up preparing breakfast. She turned around and smiled. “Good morning, my dear. How are you feeling? Seth told me what happened. Did you have enough rest?”
“Yes, I did, may I eat early? I want to head back to Christa as soon as possible and check on Tristan.”
“Of course, grab whatever you want.” While eating, Mayra kept giving her worried looks. “Are you sure you’re okay to go back?”
With her mouth filled with eggs and bacon, Niev had no choice but to nod. Mayra clearly would’ve preferred for Niev to have stayed the day and rested up more. It only encouraged Niev in her decision not to let anyone in on the whole twin secret.
She was still in shock herself. She was barely prepared for one baby let alone for two at the same time. Mayra, Lyliann, and Layla would be all over her worrying and trying to slow Niev down.
Before she could sink deeper into her thoughts, she heard footsteps coming toward her from the hallway. She looked up and saw Blake. He smiled but he couldn’t hide that something was upsetting him.
“Could you please come into Father’s office?”
Niev stuffed the last piece of bacon inside her mouth and jumped up to follow Blake. He took her hand with a tight grip, and she knew something was up.
Was it Tristan? Did he not make it?
Tanner sat behind his desk with a straight face. Seth stood directly behind his father, arms crossed in front of his chest with the exact same expression. Blake let go of her hand and walked toward the window where he stood trying to hide his feelings.
Niev took her eyes off Blake and looked at Tanner. “How may I help you, Alpha?” Niev knew this was official–not a talk between a daughter-in-law and her father-in-law, so she decided to address him with his title.
“Did you get enough rest after last night’s events?” Tanner asked, avoiding her question.
“Yes, but I’m sure that isn’t the reason why you’ve asked me to come to your office, is it?” She saw Seth tense up, whereas Blake’s face now beamed with pride.
“As you know, the attacks on our pack have increased over the past few days. I’ve decided that a peaceful solution is no longer an option. With our men getting weaker with each attack, I’ve decided that now is the time for us to strike.”
Niev nodded, and Tanner continued.
“I need all my wolves to be at their strongest. That is where you come into play.” Now Niev understood why he’d asked her how she was feeling. “I need you to heal them.”
It wasn’t a question, nor an alpha’s command. He counted on her doing as he asked, even though his face showed a quick expression of insecurity. He knew the toll it would take on her to heal the wolves. Maybe he was even afraid of her rebelling against him, refusing to do as he needed. The war they were fighting could be lost if she disobeyed.
