Page 98 of Say You'll Stay

He made promises to not take this further than where I was comfortable. That’s the problem, though. I want all of him, but I don’t want to end up alone if he changes his mind.

Lucas Kennedy has always been that mystery. He’s handsome and gifted with personality, too. Lucas was supposed to be a handsome jerk that uses women and then moves on. He’s not that at all, though, and I’m so glad I was wrong.

Flipping off the light feels like more than it should. Like I just pressed the button on that nuclear football thing, if that’s even real.

Lucas’ warm hand covers the one I haven’t taken off the light switch. He wraps his fingers around mine, pressing them against the wall while his other hand comes to my hip. But it’s his entire front covering my backside that makes me want to melt into him.

“It’s new for us, Allie. Would you believe me if I said I’m scared, too?”

Oh yeah, right. Mister wet t-shirt contests and full college experience?

“I’m scared you’ll figure out I’m not really worth your time,” he says. He kisses my shoulder and I’m melting at his touch, ready to fall apart.

Scratch that. I already did fall, just not apart.

“You juggle all this shit like it’s nothing and have it all under control. I don’t want to throw a wrench into your perfect life.”

I scoff at that. “Perfect?” I’m about to lose some sort of normal brain function and he’s barely touched me. “Are you kidding?”

“Shhh. Don’t wake up Jadon.” He nudges my head to the side and kisses my neck. “Tell me you want this.”

How could I not?

He’s still holding my hand against the wall, only he’s pressed my palm and fingers flat against it while the other sneaks under my shirt and rests on my ribs. His thumb just barely tickles under my breast.

“Do you want to try something?”

“Hmm?” I cannot even use actual words right now. Especially not when he grabs my full breast and squeezes and tweaks my pert nipples as he breaks away from me.

Gone. No chest against my back or hands on me. He walks over to my bed and sits on the edge. He’s watching me by the moonlight streaming through the window. My feet move on their own while the rest of me is barely just keeping up. Standing in front of him, he hides his nerves well enough until he swallows hard.

This is it. Now or never.

I take a deep breath as I lift my shirt over my head and let it fall to the floor. My leggings are next as I kick them over to the side.

He smooths my hip along the side of my underwear. “Keep these on for now.”

He pulls me closer to him and lifts me up one leg at a time, into his lap. Lucas reaches around behind me and I hear the drawer to my nightstand open and Lucas shuffles something around in there.

Oh god, he’s looking for it.

“Relax, Allie, I want to watch your face when you come from this.” He leans forward and kisses the center of my chest.

Lucas holds it up between us and smirks while I’m completely mortified.

“This is the one?” When I nod, he licks his lips. “You said my name with this. You begged me to fuck you when you thought I couldn’t hear it.”

“Lucas, I—”

He pulls me in for a kiss, and when I consider moving back, he holds me still. His hand on my backside is gentle but firm. This is a good pace. Why is he so good at this?

It’s probably bad that I have only ever been this close to him, but he has this way of luring me into his spiderweb. As scared as I am, he’s doing something different from the last time. It’s not rushed. His lips on mine are slow and consuming, like he’s savoring the taste.

The way his fingers tangle in my hair and hold my head in place is like a soft command. He deepens the kiss, still sweet and slow, not painful or biting. It’s my hips, though, that do everything in their power to take this further.

I can’t help it, though. His body ignites mine, like I was meant to crawl into his lap blindly, and Lucas would know how to hold me, so I feel safe.

When he breaks the kiss, we’re both inhaling one another through hard breaths. Lucas doesn’t let go, but rests his forehead against mine while he pulls me closer to him. “Last chance, Allie. I’m not letting you go.”
