Tears pooled in Jenna’s eyes. My sister approached and hugged her next.
“Lizzie, hi. Thank you for coming.”
While Jenna made her rounds, Amber slipped her arm around my waist, watching proudly as Jenna’s sad cries had been replaced with happy tears. I pulled her close.
“You did great, baby.” I gave her a peck on the top of her head.
“She deserves it and more.”
Removing my hat, I ran my fingers through my hair.
“Holy shit!” Amber gasped. “Chance! Oh my God, your hair!”
“Whoaaa!” Ian’s eyes widened.
“Oh, my fucking God!” Luke choked on his drink, spitting it back into his glass. “Brooo!”
“What did you do?!” Amber slapped her palm over her mouth.
“Fabian did it for me.” Cocking my head, I smirked. “What do you think?”
Running her fingers through my hair, her shock was washed away quickly with a large grin. “You’re so sexy either way. I love it!”
Once the initial shock had worn off about my hair, everyone complimented the new look. I wasn’t sure how long I planned to keep it, but it would definitely help me blend in a bit better while Alejandro was still on the loose.
After Jenna had greeted everyone, someone cranked up the music. The girls stepped up onto the main stage, laughing and chatting while dancing. They were having a great time.
As I stood back, sipping on drinks with my friends, I couldn’t take my eyes off Amber. I thought back to our time together and apart. Now, in a few short months, she was going to be Mrs. Hardwin.
She glanced over from the platform, catching me staring at her. She smiled shyly, tucking her bottom lip between her teeth, moving her body to the rhythm of the music. I flashed her my approval.
She then guided my sister over to the pole on stage, showing her a simple spin. My eyes didn’t need to see my fiancée teaching my sister how to be a pole dancer. She already got naked in movies and even that was weird for me.
Rolling my eyes, I snorted, turning to speak to Ian, but he was no longer next to me. I peered around the room, assuming I was just distracted by Amber longer than I thought. He was nowhere to be seen. Making eye contact with Luke, I cocked my head.
“Did Ian go upstairs?”
“He went to take a call up there, yeah.”
Something didn’t feel right. My eyes darted to the side of the room. Ice Man was still there. Nico was just outside the main door.
“Luke, why are Ice Man and Nico still visible if Ian is upstairs?”
“What?” He peeled his eyes off Jade, searching the room. “Well, I mean, he just went up there, and the club is closed.” He placed his glass down on a table next to him.
“When was the last time you saw them not follow him everywhere except the bathroom, even when the club’s closed?”
“Fuck. You’re right.” We sped out into the foyer. “Nico, where’s Ian?!” Luke snapped.
“I didn’t see him come through here.”
Ice Man appeared in the doorway. “What’s going on?”
“Where the hell is Ian?” Nico barked at Ice Man.
“You don’t have a visual?!” Ice Man spat at Nico.
“Fuck!” Luke shouted, sprinting toward the staircase next to the elevator.
