“You don’t want to keep any of it?”
She shook her head, glancing at me for approval. “What do you think?”
Amused at her continuously caring heart, I nodded subtly.
“Good.” She grinned. “It’s settled then. Would you be willing to handle the donations for me?”
“Absolutely.”
“I’ll send you a list of them as soon as possible.”
“Very well.”
Isabelle attempted to hand him the folder.
He flashed a palm. “That’s your copy. I have another one in here.” Closing his briefcase, he took a deep breath. “Right, well, I’ll leave you to enjoy the rest of your day. I’ll be in touch with you about property listings and we need to sign a few documents. If you have an agent you want to use, we’ll use your people. I understand there are probably some trust bridges that have burned.”
“Correct,” I agreed. “Take my card.” I reached over, sliding a business card from the display on my desk and handed it to him. “Contact me any time and going forward, my fiancée and I will be fully involved in the process, but the decisions are hers to make.”
“Of course, sir. I would expect nothing less.” He bowed his head, sauntered toward the exit, and took his hat from the coat rack.
Joseph opened the door, then closed it behind him.
Noah relaxed his posture, ambling toward Isabelle. “Are you okay?”
“Shocked, but yes!” Relieved, she fell down in the chair he had just been sitting in, burying her head into her palms. “I would have never guessed.”
I cocked my head at Noah. “You did all that.”
He nodded. “Of course, I did.”
Isabelle gasped suddenly. “Wait! That means you delivered his head to his lawyer?”
The corner of Noah’s lips twisted up.
“Ugh,” she groaned. “That was so risky!”
He shrugged. “I keep telling you people, I have skills you don’t know about.”
“I’m just not going to question you any longer.” She covered her face, groaning.
“Best.”
I rested a palm on her shoulder, massaging it gently. “Okay, we should head out and get ready for tonight.”
She stood. “Where are you taking me?”
Smiling, I strode to my desk, taking my jacket off the chair, and slipping it on. I closed my laptop and scooped up my briefcase. Joseph stepped over to Isabelle’s shopping bags and picked them up.
“It’s a surprise, amore.” Hand resting on her lower back, I guided her to the lobby. “You don’t need to worry about a thing.”
I wanted tonight to be a complete surprise for her. We followed Joseph and Noah to the elevator. Grace stood when we passed by, sliding a key FOB over the reception desk ledge. Isabelle’s brow wrinkled in curiosity, but I slid it into my pocket without a word. Once we stepped in the elevator and the doors slid closed, she opened her mouth to speak but shut it just as quickly.
“Something on your mind?”
Clearing her throat, she stared straight ahead. “Not at all.”
Moments later, the doors parted. I took her hand in mine, escorting her to a brand-new red, Ferrari SF90 Spider. As we approached, she gripped my hand tighter. I pointed the remote at the car.
