The three of them played pool for the next hour or so before he decided he would head home. He said goodbye to everyone and got into his car.

Once he’d made it to the house, he headed straight up to his room. It was a little after seven, and he didn’t have anything to do. He had just wanted to be alone so he could call and see how Colbie’s day with her family had gone.

Taking his phone from his pocket, he decided to FaceTime her. It rang several times, and he was just about to hang up when she answered.

“Hey, Dallis.”

He had heard her, and he was going to respond. Honestly, he was, but he saw what she was wearing, and the only thing on his mind was to figure out where she was and fuck her until both were beyond exhausted. She had on a gray top that barely came down over her breast, and he wasn’t sure if she was wearing any bottoms or not.

“Dallis?”

Her voice calling him pulled him out of his haze, and he was able to focus his attention back on her beautiful face.

“Sorry. Hey, baby. How was dinner with your family?”

“It was just about like all the others. How was yours?”

Dallis shrugged. “It was good. My uncle got overly upset that his team was losing. So, just like every other holiday,” he finished with a smirk, causing her to giggle. He studied her background surroundings. “You aren’t home, are you?”

Colbie shook her head at him. “No, I’m at the hotel. I decided to stay tonight and drive back tomorrow.”

“You’ll let me know when you make it back so I can come to see you?”

Dallis hadn’t spent any time with her since the past weekend. Even though they were out on a break, he had an English project that he’d been working on at the beginning of the week, and he had just finished it last night. So, to say he missed her would be very accurate.

“Yes, I will.”

Dallis talked to Colbie for the next couple of hours before she began to yawn. It was only after nine, but he got the distinct feeling that the day had been tiring for her. He figured she may have helped her mother cook, and her exhaustion caught up to her.

Dallis told her goodnight, and the two hung up. Turning the television on, he watched for a bit before taking a shower. His day was free tomorrow until Colbie got home. Then, he planned on being extremely busy.

Colbie swung the front door open and was greeted by a smiling Lawrence on the other side. She couldn’t help but smile back as he hugged her, acting as if he hadn’t just seen her two days ago at her mother’s house. When he released her, she stepped aside and let him in. Lawrence hadn’t been to her house before. Most of the time, when they saw one another, it was while they were both in Vegas visiting their family.

“Come on,” she started. “I’ll give you a little tour, and then we can order lunch and have some wine.”

She gave him the tour of her house, ending at the guest bedroom she’d volunteered to let him stay in the day before when he’d texted her asking for her address. She didn’t want him making the five-hour drive later that night because she knew driving could be draining.

After pouring them each a glass of wine, she made her way over to the couch where Lawrence was seated and handed his to him. Colbie took out her phone and held it between them so they could decide on lunch as she scrolled through one of the delivery apps.

Once they decided what they wanted and placed the order, Colbie set her phone aside on the coffee table. She turned sideways on the couch as she took a drink from her wine glass.

“Are you still enjoying the new position?” Colbie asked after a few seconds of silence.

“I am. It’s more work, but it also allows me more freedom, and I get to travel to meet clients and potential clients. The increase in pay doesn’t hurt, either. How’s European history treating you?”

“I like it. I enjoy teaching upperclassmen because they tend to be more mature. I taught freshmen at Hamilton, and while it was okay, they were rowdy more often than not. So, the transfer made sense when I saw the job opening.”

“I bet. Especially since your first year teaching was juniors,” Lawrence stated, and Colbie nodded. “Speaking of upperclassmen. How are things with Dallis?”

“They’re…good.”

Lawrence raised an eyebrow at her. “What was that pause?”

“We’ve only been dating a couple of months, so I wouldn’t expect to have any major problems, but I also didn’t think things would be as good as they are.”

“I’m glad they are. You deserve all the happiness you can get after Will’s no-good ass. Speaking of, I can’t believe he had the audacity to stalk you to a restaurant.”
