“Yes. I figured you may need some backup.”
Colbie knew that Lawrence was right. Ever since she and Will separated, her mother had taken every opportunity to tell her that she had made the biggest mistake of her life. Her mother was so bent on that fact that she didn’t even know why Colbie had left him. Each time she tried to tell her, her mother would just talk over her and reiterate what she had said.
“Thanks, Lawrence. You’re the second-best big brother,” she told him because that was how she viewed him, and he chuckled.
She spoke on the phone with Lawrence for over an hour until he told her that his friend Alijah had texted him saying she was having an emergency.
Colbie went into her kitchen and decided to start making herself dinner. She had taken out some chicken breast tenderloins that morning before leaving for work and decided to make herself some chicken fajitas.
As she cooked, she turned onPandora, linking her phone to her sound bar.Enemiezby KeKe Palmer came on, and she began to dance around the kitchen. She loved her music and felt that she was so underrated as far as her music went and deserved more recognition.
When she finished cooking, she turned the music off and turned on the TV instead. She settled onMaze Runneras it played on one of the movie channels.
After finishing her food, she went into the kitchen and cleaned it up. She started the dishwasher before returning to the living room and finishing her movie.
Her phone vibrated, and she picked it up, looking down at it. It was a text from Dallis.
Dallis: Hey, beautiful.
Colbie: Hey, Dallis.
Dallis: Wyd?
Colbie: Nothing, just watching a movie.
Dallis: Hmm...I miss you. Send me a pic.
Colbie looked at the message before getting up and going to the mirror in her hallway, looking at her hair and making sure it looked good. She then began to inspect her face before she caught herself. What am I doing? Acting like a teenager.
Sis, you’re making sure we look good for our man. Now, get naked and send him that picture.
Shut up, GiGi!
Going back over to the couch, Colbie tried out a few poses before just deciding to settle on blowing a kiss to the camera. She sent him the picture and received a response almost immediately.
Colbie: (Image sent)
Dallis: Why are you so fucking gorgeous?
Dallis:(Image received)
Find him right the fuck now, and fuck the shit out of him, Sis! No Jokes! Real shit.GiGi responded in response to the picture Dallis sent.
Colbie ignored herself as her phone began to ring, but it wasn’t her standard ring. It was the ring that signified that she had an incoming FaceTime call. She saw it was Dallis and hit the green accept button. When she did, he popped up on her screen shirtless, and she was damn tempted to do precisely what GiGi had suggested.

Dallis was heading to his car when he heard his name called. He had decided against going to Colbie’s classroom after school today. He didn’t want anyone suspicious about why he was in there so much.
Turning, he found Harper coming his way. He had to refrain from rolling his eyes. She had asked him to hang out again that day during study period, and he had turned her down again. He honestly didn’t want to talk to her. All he wanted to do was leave. He was supposed to meet his dad, uncles, and best friends atCyber.
“Hey, Dallis. I’m glad I caught you.”
“Hey, Harper. I’m sorry, but I don’t have time to talk right now.” He turned and continued to his car, but she fell into step beside him. She grabbed his arm when he was about to open his car door. Dallis sighed.
“Why do you keep blowing me off?” she questioned.
Dallis could lie to her, but what was the point of that? “I’m not interested, Harper,” he told her honestly. He watched as her eyes widened. He figured she hadn’t expected him to be so honest with her or to say that at all.
