She went into her bedroom and changed into something comfortable before going into her kitchen and finding something to cook for dinner. She decided to make spaghetti.

Connecting her phone to the Bluetooth speakers she had in her living room, she turned on some music while making her food. She danced along to The Pussycat Doll’sButtons. It was an old song, but she loved it. Every time she played it, she couldn’t help but dance.

Once she finished cooking, she poured herself a glass of red wine and took her food into the living room after turning the music off.

Turning on the television, she went to her recordings. Deciding to watch a couple of episodes ofStar.

After eating her food, she went into the kitchen to put up her leftovers and place all the dishes into the dishwasher. She started it before picking up her home phone and dialing her mother. Though Colbie had a cell phone, most people that wanted to reach her called her home phone because she rarely answered her cell. Mainly because it typically stayed in her purse throughout the day.

“Colbie Lynae. I’m close to whooping your little ass when I see you.” Her mother told her when she answered.

Colbie shook her head. “Hello to you too, Mom.”

“Why have you not answered my calls or called me back?”

“I’ve been busy.”

“Too busy for your mother?”

Colbie sighed, feeling guilty. She honestly hadn’t been that busy. “No, Mom. I’m sorry,” she apologized. “I was calling to tell you I’ll be coming home for Thanksgiving,” she informed her. Hoping the change of subject would stop the lecture she assumed was coming.

“That’s wonderful, honey. We haven’t seen you since Independence Day.”

For the next several minutes, she spoke with her mother. She asked her what she wanted her to bring to dinner. Colbie wasn’t sure how many people her mother was inviting, so whatever she made, she knew she would have to make plenty of it just in case.

After she finished speaking with her mom, she hung up. Colbie got comfortable on the couch and decided to continue watching the show.

Dallis lay on the weight bench as his other best friend Arsyn spotted him. He was a year older than Dallis, but they had known each other their whole lives. Their fathers and Hayden’s were best friends and ran their company together.

“So, how are things with your teacher?” Arsyn questioned.

“They’re progressing. I’m taking her out this weekend,” Dallis informed, and his friend nodded. “How are things with you and the cosmetologist?”

Arsyn sighed. “Not moving the way I want them to, but I’m getting ready to change that. I’ve had to hold off due to a slight obstacle.”

“And that would be?”

“She’s dating someone.”

“When has that ever stopped you?” Dallis asked.

“It’s different this time. Sure, I can pursue a woman who’s involved with someone else when all we’re both getting out of it is a good fuck. That’s not all I want from Dailee, though.”

Dallis placed the bar back into its holder before nodding his head. He knew what Arsyn meant. It was the same way he felt about Colbie. She was it for him.

Most people looking at his situation would have told him that he was too young to know she was who he wanted to spend his life with. Would have said he didn’t honestly know what it meant to commit himself to someone at such a young age, but he did. He had been raised differently from most guys his age. He and both of his best friends had. They were raised knowing that it didn’t matter how old you were when you found that special someone and to go after them if you felt they were worth it.

“So, what are you going to do?”

“I’m not sure yet. I’m working on it,” Arsyn responded before changing the subject. “Has Hayden made progress with his neighbor yet?”

Dallis shook his head. “Not at all. I don’t even know if he’s made a move yet.”

“Give him time. He isn’t as bold as you are,” Arsyn reminded him. “Hell, I’m not even sure I’m as bold as you,” he tacked on, and both laughed.

“What are y’all down here laughing about?” Blayze, Arsyn’s dad, asked as he stepped into the basement.
