“It’s the only one I applied to,” Dallis responded, and Colbie furrowed her brow in confusion.
“You had so many brochures. I just assumed you’d apply to those.”
“I had them from the college fair,” Dallis responded, pulling her into his lap. “Did you honestly think I was going anywhere that would have me hours away from you?”
“Furthering your education isn’t about me, Dallis. I don’t want to keep you from going to your dream school or whichever school has the best program for the major you want. The distance can be figured out.”
“I want to go here, be here with you. I wasn’t even going to go to college,” Dallis informed her because he didn’t want her to think she was holding him back or something equally as ridiculous. “But I changed my mind. I decided to go because I want to be a man worthy of standing beside you.”
Dallis didn’t give her a chance to respond when he took her lips with his again. He shifted them; so he was leaning against the arm of the couch with her straddling him. As her arms wrapped around his neck, his hands slipped down to grip her ass.
The kiss lasted for several long minutes until Colbie began to pull away. Dallis attempted to follow, but Colbie placed her hands on his chest and pushed him back slightly.
“Wait, I want to talk to you about something,” she told him.
“Okay.”
“After graduation, I think I should introduce you to the rest of my family.”
Dallis could see the nervousness in her eyes, and he knew it was because of their age difference. Just because his parents were okay with them dating, and her brothers were as well, it didn’t mean that the rest of her family would be. He knew that even though they’d been dating for almost seven months, and she didn’t have an issue with his age, she still thought about what her family would say.
“If that’s what you want to do, baby,” he responded, moving his hands up to her waist. “Just let me know when and we’ll go.”
“I don’t know if I want us to go or invite them here. I’m trying to figure out the better advantage if things take a left,” Colbie informed him.
“It would be the same either way. If we go there and shit hits the fan, we can leave. If you invite them here and shit hits the fan, you can tell them to leave.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” She paused for a moment. “I think doing that will also get my mother to stop interfering in my life. She still has it in her head that I will get back with Will.”
“That shit isn’t happening,” Dallis told her.
“You and I know that, but she lives in her own world. She’s drinking his Kool-Aid or something because I don’t understand why she likes him so much when he couldn’t keep his dick in his pants while we were together.”
Dallis hadn’t asked Colbie why she and Will split up because he didn’t care. The other man’s loss was his gain. However, he’d concluded that it had been Will who fucked it up because of her overall attitude towards him. Dallis couldn’t imagine a man cheating on a woman he cared about, and the fact that Will was supposed to marry Colbie just confused Dallis even more as to why he hadn’t been able to keep his dick out of places it shouldn’t have been.
Colbie went to get off his lap, but Dallis wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her back down. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“To start dinner.”
Dallis leaned in and nipped at her neck, pulling a moan from her. “I’d rather have you for dinner.”
“We need to eat.”
“Oh, I plan on doing that,” he responded before sucking on her neck.
“Food, Dallis. We need to eat food,” Colbie countered with a moan, and Dallis knew she’d give in. He also knew that she did need to eat. She’d need her energy because he planned on expending every bit of it that she had. “You can have me for dessert,” she tacked on.
“Add breakfast to the table, and it’s a deal.”
She pushed on his chest, and Dallis removed his face from her neck. “You can have me for dessert and breakfast. Maybe even a late lunch, but you can help me cook for now.”
Colbie went to stand again, and this time Dallis released her, getting up and going over to lock the front door before following her into the kitchen. He leaned against the counter as he watched her take out what she wanted them to cook. Dallis enjoyed these times when he could just spend time with her and do domestic things.
When they no longer had to keep their relationship quiet, he wanted to take her out and do all the things couples tended to in their city. He didn’t have much longer. Three weeks until his last day and six weeks till graduation. Then, it was to hell with what everyone else thought because opinions were like assholes, and Dallis had no intentions of letting anyone make Colbie uncomfortable. He’d go to war for the woman standing before him, and anyone who stood against him would wish they never had.

Dallis was looking forward to and dreading next week all at the same time. He was looking forward to it because it was his last week of school but dreading it because he in no way wanted to spend that time taking final exams. It wasn’t that he thought he wouldn’t pass them or do well on them; it meant he’d have to pay attention, or as much as he usually did, for a bit longer.
