Colbie bit her bottom lip a bit nervously as she glanced at Lawrence. “No, you can come. It’s fine.”

It was quiet on Dallis’ end for a moment. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m sure.”

“Okay, baby. I’ll see you in half an hour.”

“Okay, bye.”

Colbie hung up her phone and turned her attention to Lawrence. “He’s going to be here in half an hour.” Her eyes widened as the words left her lips, and he chuckled.

“Calm down. Everything is going to be fine. There’s no need to be nervous because I already know how old he is.”

“Right. You’re right,” Colbie responded, picking up her glass and taking a drink. There was no need to freak out. Lawrence already knew the entire situation, and she was sure Dallis wouldn’t mind meeting him. If he had an issue, he wouldn’t have agreed to come.

Deciding that there was no need for panic, Colbie focused her attention back on her food while Lawrence began to tell her about what he planned to get his mother for Christmas.

Dallis looked down at his phone for a second after hanging up with Colbie. He hadn’t expected her to have company when he called since he knew she’d gone to see her family, and she didn’t tend to hang out with anyone. He’d asked her a few weeks into their dating, and she’d told him that she didn’t get out enough outside of school to meet people, and she didn’t want to make the same mistake of getting close to someone at school. Though she hadn’t elaborated on why she thought it was a mistake.

The fact that she still invited him over with her company being there shocked him even more. To Dallis, it meant that she was more comfortable in their relationship, with their age difference, if she was willing to introduce him to one of her friends. Who Dallis was going to assume probably didn’t live in town because this was the first time she’d been preoccupied on a weekend since they’d started dating.

He could have also been getting ahead of himself. For all that he knew, they could have been gone by the time he got there. Maybe they were already getting ready to leave, which was why Colbie told him it was fine to come over.

Dallis finished getting dressed and grabbed his wallet and keys. He and his father had played a few games of one on one, and he’d been in need of a shower when they finished. He said bye to his mom on the way out, letting her know he would be back later that night but would text her if later that night turned into the following morning.

He got into his car and headed toward Colbie’s, stopping to grab some Cookie’s N Cream ice cream from the convenience store a few blocks from her house.

When he parked in front of her mailbox, he noticed the car behind hers in the driveway. Dallis contemplated waiting or texting her to see if she wanted him to wait until they left. However, she’d told him he could come. So, he grabbed the plastic bag and got out.

Dallis didn’t have to wait long after knocking on her front door for her to answer. Colbie stood in front of him dressed in a pair of forest green joggers and a white long-sleeve shirt. Her hair was pulled into a bun, a few naturally curly pieces hanging free around her face. It never ceased to amaze him how beautiful she looked in whatever she wore.

“Hey, baby,” he greeted, leaning down to kiss her lips.

“Hey,” she spoke against his lips. “Come in,” she told him when they pulled apart.

Dallis stepped inside, closing and locking the door behind him. He held the bag up to her, and Colbie took it, looking inside before smiling at him in thanks. The living room was empty, but it was only a moment later that he heard footsteps coming down the hall. A few seconds after that, a man his height came into view.

“Lawrence, this is my boyfriend, Dallis. Dallis, this is my friend, Lawrence, though he’s more like a brother,” Colbie introduced.

Dallis held his hand out, and the two shook. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“You as well,” Lawrence responded before releasing his hand and turning his attention to Colbie. “He’s cute.”

Dallis smirked as he watched his girlfriend glare at Lawrence playfully. “Cute is for puppies,” Dallis informed Lawrence, and the other man chuckled while Colbie snorted.

“I suppose it is,” Lawrence responded. “So, Dallis, tell me about yourself. Colbie says, your nineteen. Do you work?”

Dallis glanced at Colbie for a moment. He was unsure of what exactly she’d told Lawrence. Telling him that he was nineteen didn’t automatically mean that she told him she was his teacher. Most people would assume he was already out of high school; they may have been correct for anyone else. So, he decided to answer the question that was posed.

“I do. I work for a company calledCyber. We host and distribute applications to the app store.”

“That sounds like fun. Do you like it?”

“I do. It also helps that we get first access to those apps, which means if it’s something I like, I get to have it before anyone else.”

“A definite plus,” Lawrence agreed. “Colbie and I were just about to play some dominos before you arrived. You want to play with us?”
