“I’m going too.” Shit, we were a mess. How would I explain it to Harlow? I supposed we could say that we’d been in an accident. We both rushed to our bikes.

“Why didn’t she call you?” I asked as I settled down on the seat.

“She wouldn’t,” Savage said with a downward twist on his lips. “She’s been with the club too long and wouldn’t have wanted to distract me.” He swung his leg over the seat. “She knew we were dealing with some serious shit today.”

“If Harlow ever does anything like this...”

He snorted. “Don’t worry, Brother. Lulu’s bottom will know the error of her ways as soon as she’s healed from birthing our son.”

We tore out of there with our back wheels spinning and kicking up dirt and gravel and headed for the hospital. We were about half an hour away, but made it in twenty minutes. As we pulled into the hospital parking lot, I noticed the big, black Harley parked under a tree. Fuck! I recognized Bronx’s bike even though he’d covered the club logo over. Some rival MCs did that so they wouldn’t bring notice to themselves.

Frowning, I shot Savage a hard look.

“I saw it, too,” he said.

“Well, now at least we know where the fuck he disappeared to.” I dug out my cell. “Go inside to Lulu, I’ll call Demon.”

Savage hesitated. I could tell that he was torn between going to his old lady and staying with me in case we had to deal with Bronx. “He comes out alone, don’t do anything stupid.” He climbed off his bike. “I mean it, Brother.” He removed his pistol and stashed it in a secret compartment in his bike.

“I’ll be in right after I make the call.”

Satisfied with my answer, he nodded and sprinted off toward the doors.

“Yeah?” Demon barked into the phone.

“Found Bronx.”

“Where?”

“Here at the hospital. At least his bike is.” I walked over to it and lifted the corner of the black decal he’d used to cover his club logo.” Yup. Wild Bandits painted design was beneath it.

“Shit!” came his heated growl. “We can’t do shit in a public place like that. The brother he hauled out of here must be someone to him.” He took a deep breath. “You go on inside. We’re on our way. We’ll wait for him to come out.”

Where there’d be less witnesses.

I removed my weapon and stuffed it into a compartment designed for hiding shit. I hadn’t killed anyone with it today and I had a concealed weapons license, so I knew I had nothing to worry about. I locked it and then I hurried toward the hospital doors, anxious to see my woman.

Just as I stepped through the sliding glass door and into the lobby, I saw two things simultaneously. Bronx had just stepped into the elevator and had turned around to face me. Harlow, who’d been sitting in a chair, saw me and jumped up with a huge smile.

“Liam!” She rushed at me and then came to an abrupt halt when she noticed the condition I was in, her smile transforming into a look of concern. “What happened?”

I didn’t take my eyes off Bronx because the fucker was that dangerous. He stood there with a smug smile on his face as the elevator door closed slowly. His gaze shifted back and forth between Harlow and me, and then he winked. The fucker winked! His morbid way of letting me know that he knew Harlow was mine. I clenched my jaw, fighting the urge to push her away from me to prove that she meant nothing to me, but it was too late.

Fuck!It made my gut clench just knowing that she’d been that close to him. Being with me had just put a mark on her back.

After Harlow’s initial shock over my appearance wore off, she threw herself against me, not caring about the dirt and blood.

“Honey, what happened?” Our eyes met. “Did you guys have an accident?”

She must have seen Savage, too. “Kind of, but I’m okay.” And because I couldn’t stand having her in my arms and not tasting her full, soft lips, I swooped down and covered her mouth with mine.

Didn’t matter we were in the hospital lobby. Didn’t matter I was filthy. I hadn’t noticed who else was in the lobby, and I didn’t care. I wanted to reaffirm our connection. Show Harlow how much I loved her, because the coming war was going to test that love. When her mouth opened to mine, the first touch of our tongues warned me to pull away before it was too late.

“Jesus.” I was intoxicated with her and leaned my forehead against hers while we panted to catch our breath. After a minute I stepped back. “How’s Lulu?”

“She’s in the back. Brody just went back there to be with her. He didn’t look any better than you.”

I nodded. “Yeah.”
