Can I get one night without you banging on the wall?
Scar
A whole night! *Shocked face emoji*
Suze
I know you could go to one of the guys’ rooms, but you don’t. You do it to torture me.
Scar
Some people like my sex sounds. I’ve been told they’d pay good money for them.
Suze
I’m not some people. I love you, Scar, but boundaries.
Scar
Ugh, fine. I’ll let Monty gag me.
Suze
*eye roll emoji*
Henley
Um, so…. *Laughing emoji* *dead emoji*
Scar
See you at six!
No other texts came through, so I took that to mean I’d find out the costume when they arrived. On a whim, I invited Macy, texting her the details and saying she was welcome to join us. When she replied she was free, I felt lighter.
Dax pulled into our driveway a few minutes later, and we all stretched as we exited the car. Being home and away from the responsibility of ensuring everyone was safe was nice. That was something I hadn’t anticipated. I loved coaching, but the stress and responsibility were heavy hats to wear at times.
“The girls are in, so I’m assuming the guys will be, too. Scar’s going to find a costume for me. What are you guys going to do?”
“It’s a surprise,” Dax said, his eyes twinkling.
The other two looked nervous, but agreed with him. I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking, doing laundry, and relaxing as best I could before the girls arrived. The guys had all gone off to do their own things as well, leaving me to scan Netflix and eat junk food while I waited for my clothes to finish drying.
When I realized I had no clue what was happening in the show I’d been watching, I turned off the TV and went to find the guys. They’d been too quiet, or maybe I’d just been that zoned out. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t quit thinking about the hotel and how easily that could’ve escalated. I’d never been in a situation to get arrested in my life, but it felt almost destined as the anger rose in me at being denied rooms. How much further would they push me until I snapped? It seemed like that line was getting closer and closer.
I came upon Fletcher’s door first, knocking since it was closed. When no one answered, I moved down to Dax’s. His door was open, but no one was inside. Becoming more curious by the second, I padded down to Reed’s room. I could hear whispering behind his door, and my curiosity grew further. Just what were they discussing so intently?
I knocked lightly on the door, the noise behind it ceasing. Footsteps approached quickly before the door was opened, only a crack of light peering out with an eyeball staring back at me.
“Yes?” Dax’s voice said, though it was hard to tell it was him outside of his green eye.
“What you doing?” I asked, crossing my arms and smiling.
“Just manly guy things.” He coughed and dropped his voice.
“Mm-hmm. Should we eat before this party, or will there be food there?” I asked.
“I ordered pizzas!” Fletcher shouted from behind.
