“So shall we get started?” He turns around to look at us, his cheeks are a shade of red I didn’t think he could turn. I pull him aside, away from Charlie and Kelly.

“You good?” I laugh, grabbing his shoulder.

“Um, yeah. I just didn’t expect you to bring someone else.” He clears his throat.

“You didn’t expect me to bring someone else or you didn’t expect me to bring someone like Kelly?” I bite back a laugh.

“Who is she?”

“Remember how we told you Charlie caught her ex-fiance cheating on her?”

“Yeah?” His brows pull together.

“Well, that was Kelly.”

“What!” He hisses.

“It wasn’t like that. Kelly didn’t know about Charlie because Jett told her that they had broken up. Kelly was the one that helped get me there and get Charlie here. She’s a good one. She drove here once she found out that Jett found Charlie. She wanted to warn us and make sure we were prepared. I wanted to bring her today because once Jett finds out that she helped her it won’t be pretty.” I run a hand through my hair.

“Do you really think he would hurt her?” His jaw tenses.

“I wouldn’t put it past him. If he hurt Charlie and he claimed to love her, I don’t doubt that he would hurt Kelly too.” I shake my head.

“Well, if he hurts anyone here it won’t end pretty.” He snaps.

“Are we going to do this or what?” Kelly interrupts, her hands on her hips.

“Yes ma’am.” Brad laughs.

“Oh you did not just ma’am me.” She glares.

“My bad.” He raises his hands in surrender.

“It’s Kelly or Goddess to you.” She winks and links her arm with Charlie. I laugh and Brad sucks in a deep breath.

“You are totally screwed my friend.” I shake my head before making my way over to the mat.

We spend the next two hours learning new self defense techniques. I mostly sit back and let Charlie and Kelly take the lead since I’ve been training for years and they haven’t. I want them to be able to defend themselves in the off chance I’m not there whenever Jett pops up. That thought alone has my blood boiling.

“Okay, I think we are done for today.” Brad takes a towel and wipes it across his face.

“I think I might die.” Kelly flops down on the mat, fanning her face with her hand.

“You’ll be fine.” Charlie laughs as she helps her up.

“I don’t think I will be. Do you guys do that everyday?” She pants as she gets to her feet.

“Every other day.” Brad laughs.

“I will be feeling this for a week at least.” She groans.

“You’ll get used to it.” Brad smiles.

“Is that right?” Kelly lets out a laugh.

“If you give it a chance.” He winks at her and Kelly smiles.

“Okay well we better get going, we could all use a shower. But uh Brad, how about you come over later for dinner?” Charlie shrugs.
