Oh god. I want to die of embarrassment. It’s one of my boxes with the clothes I wouldn’t need right now, since they’re out of season, and it’s also where I stuffed my vibrator. Not just any vibrator, but the one with the knot at the base of it.

Miles and Lawson both stare at it, eyebrows raised. My face feels like it’s on fire, and I get the feeling that the universe must be laughing so hard at me.

I scramble for the dildo and shove it quickly back into the box, putting clothes on top of it. I bought it a couple years ago, after watching some Alpha/Omega porn. Yes, my romance novels have plenty of steam in them, but after reading about an Omega getting knotted, I had wanted to see for myself how it worked.

I’d been curious how it all worked, what the fuss was about, and it had gotten me… really hot and bothered.

I’d gotten really turned on by the idea of being knotted. I have ever since. It kind of sucks, since I’m a Beta, and the majority of Alphas will want an Omega instead. That’s why I got the toy. Not only have I not had time for a relationship, but the chances of finding an Alpha or pack of Alphas that want to commit to a Beta like me are slim to none.

I really hope they don’t think I’m some kind of sex-obsessed freak. Between this toy and the massive romance novel collection they probably think I’m off my rocker. Luckily, neither Miles nor Lawson makes a joke. Lawson just helps me move the box over with the other clothing boxes, then they help me unpack a little, just so everything’s out of the boxes. I can organize it later.

Miles clears his throat, and… is his face a little flushed? No, that must just be my imagination. “We should give you a full tour of the house, get you in on Ben’s schedule.”

“It’s kind of hectic right now,” Lawson says, his tone light but apologetic. “He has a bunch of rotating babysitters and we’re entering the playoff season, so it’s a lot right now. Having only one person living with him would definitely make it all easier.”

I nod. “Of course. Can you walk me through his schedule?”

“We have it down on the fridge calendar…”

The men lead me downstairs and then show me around the house, especially the rooms for Ben. He has the play room, which I saw before, and the backyard with a playset and a swing hanging from a tree.

“Winston loves to play out here, but we added the jungle gym and stuff once we got Ben,” Miles explains.

Lawson grins. “Yeah, we kinda went on a shopping binge. We all instantly wanted to spoil that kid rotten.”

Then, he sobers up. “We know that it won’t fix what happened to him. We’re not trying to buy his affection and we won’t replace his mom. But we figured… the kid deserves to be as happy as we can make him.”

I nod. “I get it. I think you guys are being really loving toward him. Three of you aren’t even related.”

“That’s what pack does,” Miles says, his tone soft with conviction. “He might not be our nephew by blood, but he’s our nephew in all the ways that matter. In a way, he’s now become our son.”

That makes my heart flip in my chest. These are such loving, kind men. And Ben’s only three. I’m sure that while a part of him will always miss his mother, he’ll come to see these men as his fathers in no time.

There’s also Ben’s bedroom, which is done in soothing colors of blue and green like the ocean. “We heard that those are good colors to help you fall asleep,” Lawson explains. “Soothing, you know?”

“You put a lot of thought into this,” I praise.

“We couldn’t do anything less,” Lawson replies, like it never occurred to him or the others to do anything except give a hundred and ten percent to this child.

I get to see Ben’s schedule on the fridge. One of the first things that stands out to me is how his nap time changes depending on the babysitting schedule that day. That’s going to have to change immediately. All humans no matter what their age need a regular sleep schedule, but little kids even more so.

“Do you mind if I…?” I gesture at the schedule.

“Go for it.”

Lawson and Miles watch as I take a picture of the original schedule with my phone and then I can compare it while I make changes based on how I’ll be with Ben 24/7. The first thing I change is his naps, which then alters everything else.

I’m focusing on meals when Cruz and Knox enter, Ben on Knox’s hip. “We got the background check complete,” Cruz says, smiling.

“Wow, that was fast.”

Cruz shrugs, as if to say that of course it was. Once he’s set on something, it’s clear that not much will deter him from it.

“Everything came back clear,” Knox says. He doesn’t sound super enthusiastic about me, but he doesn’t sound as gruff either.

“I’m glad,” I say earnestly, because I don’t want him to think that I don’t appreciate how protective he is of his child and pack.

“Told you it would,” Lawson says, elbowing Knox playfully as he leaves the kitchen.
