“Nino.”

Gian’s eldest. Why the fuck was he here? I swear to fuck this day was only getting worse by the second.

“Okay. You and Sal deal with the body and I’ll go speak to him.”

I wasn’t going to let on to Sal that I was about to lose my ever-loving shit over this. Edric was looking at me like he knew, but that little shit was far too astute about my moods. Besides, these two needed to get this guy out of here before my cousin saw anything he shouldn’t.

I turned around and walked away before he saw anything else. Didn’t need him questioning what was going on with me. I had no fucking clue how I’d begin to explain why I was all fucked up. Adults were meant to have their shit figured out by now. They should know who they are, but I had no fucking clue. Here I was at twenty-eight having an identity crisis. It was the worst timing imaginable when I was now head of the fucking mafia.

I found my cousin standing around with my men near the front entrance. Nino was shorter than me, his hair a lighter shade of brown than the rest of us because he took after his mother, and dark eyes.

“Gil.”

“Nino.”

I waved toward the stairs leading up to my office. He followed me up there without question. I shut the door behind us and walked over to the window, staring out over my building without really seeing it.

“What can I do for you?” I asked when he didn’t say anything.

“Papáand Uncle Dino aren’t very happy with you and Zayn.”

Tell me something I don’t know.

“I’m aware.”

I wanted to know what he wanted before I asked any further questions. If he was here to give me shit, I’d tell him to fuck off out of my sight. Today was not the day for dealing with my family or their drama. I had more pressing shit to get on with, like working out why the fuck someone was killing their men and dumping them at my headquarters.

“I’m not here to give you a hard time, Gil.”

I turned and looked at him.

“No?”

He took a step towards my desk.

“I don’t care what they think about you taking over. It’s between you and your brother. I’m more concerned about the trouble we’ve been having.”

“What kind of trouble?”

He sighed and took a seat in one of the chairs in front of my desk.

“Several of our shipments have gone missing. Like they’ve straight up dropped off the face of the planet. It’s been going on for a couple of months, butPapáwon’t do shit all about it. Well, he keeps telling me he and Uncle Dino are handling it, but clearly fucking not, if it’s still happening. Now our men are disappearing too. I said we should inform you, but they told me they want nothing to do with you and to mind my business.”

He looked over at me with concern written all over his face.

“We need help, Gil. Regardless of what they say, you’re still family. If we can’t even keep our own affairs in order and we go down, it looks bad on every Villetti regardless of whatfamigliawe belong to.”

He wasn’t wrong. It wouldn’t reflect well on any of us. Dino and Gian had said I was too young to run shit when they were out here looking like incompetent fools.

Fucking hypocrites.

“They don’t know you’re here.”

“No.”

“And you want my help.”

“Yes.”
