“You can’t promise that. You’re a mafia boss. Who knows what danger you’ll get mixed up in next.”

“Are you sure you want to spend your life with such a dangerous criminal?”

Theia shook her head and shoved me.

“You’re not dangerous to me.”

I rolled her over onto her back and towered over her. Theia stared up at me with a twinkle in her eyes as I gripped both her wrists, pinning them to the bed.

“I’m going to make you take that back.”

She squealed when I pressed kisses to her jaw, wriggling against me. We’d been in a life or death situation, and I wanted to reaffirm things between us. Judging by the way she was moving against me, Theia wanted that, too.

I hovered my mouth over hers a moment later, staring down into her beautiful blue-greys.

“Ti amo,Theia.”

“I love you too, Gil,” she whispered.

I knew we’d be okay after everything we’d been through together. Theia and I were stronger together. We’d proven that tonight. Tomorrow, I’d set about making sure my cousins were aware of who was the fucking boss around here.

Me.

Edric and I were sitting in my office talking about what we needed to deal with next when one of the men knocked on the door to inform me my cousins were waiting downstairs. I smiled at Edric before clearing my features and cracking my knuckles.

“Let’s go see what they want.”

He rolled his eyes.

“As if you don’t know.”

It had been two days since the incident at my penthouse with Pippa. The men had been busy clearing up the mess she’d left behind. Zayn’s people had helped by taking in all the sex trafficking victims they’d found at Pippa’s building. All the men involved had been rounded up, questioned, then disposed of. It was better to clean it up ourselves. We didn’t need questions being raised about what had gone on.

Last night my men had dropped off the bodies we’d kept in our mortuary, along with Pippa and the whereabouts of their missing shipments at Dino’s headquarters. We’d provided the evidence of her betrayal, of course, but I knew they’d be on my doorstep the moment they found out.

“How’s Theia?” Edric asked as we made our way out of my office.

“Fine. Happy to be free of her bodyguards.”

She’d taken what had happened in her stride. I think the knowledge it was all over helped. She was dealing with the aftermath of having killed three people, but at the end of the day, she was glad Pippa was dead. She couldn’t hurt anyone else now.

“You sure?”

“She’ll be okay. We take care of each other, so she’ll get through it.”

Edric paused at the top of the stairwell, raising his eyebrow.

“I’d never thought I’d see the day you would willingly take care of another person.”

“Why wouldn’t I? She’s my girl, and I love her.”

I walked down the stairs, ignoring his wide-eyed look. He knew I was serious about Theia. I wasn’t going to give her up for anything, especially not now she was no longer in danger.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I was met by Dino, Gian, Nino and a few of Dino’s men. My cousin did not look happy. His wife was dead, so it was hardly a surprise, even if she had been a shit human being. Nino gave me a subtle dip of his head. We’d spoken the day after Pippa had died. I’d told him everything that had gone down, but he’d decided to keep quiet about what he knew. He wanted to know how Gian and Dino would react before he said anything about his involvement in setting me on the case.
