“I run the mafia, Theia. Unlike my father, I don’t have bodyguards watching me twenty-four-seven. I can’t be too careful when it comes to my own protection. And it’s fifteen knives in total. Edric has been buying me them for my birthday for the past ten years, but I got a few of them myself.”
I rubbed my face with my hands, hating how logical he sounded about it. What else had I expected when my boyfriend was a mafia boss? He’d already given me bodyguards. No doubt they were armed. I couldn’t imagine Gil would let them be in charge of protecting me if not. Honestly, it hadn’t even occurred to me until now they would have weapons. I should have known, considering I’d seen Gil kill three men with a gun. I hadn’t been expecting him to be some kind of weapons hoarder.
“Come here.”
My traitorous feet obeyed, walking right up to him without a second thought. Gil smiled at me again before he took one of my hands and placed the handle of the gun in it. It was heavier than I expected. He turned me to face the targets before standing behind me.
“Hold it out in front of you.”
“You haven’t even shown me how it works.”
“I will. Just do as I say.”
I rolled my eyes, thankful he couldn’t see and raised the gun. He took my free hand and enclosed it around the handle, fitting his hands over both of mine.
“Widen your stance slightly.”
I did as he said, feeling him move with me. His body was curled around my back, mirroring my pose. Gil’s proximity did nothing but make me very aware of him.
“That’s it,” he murmured from above my head.
He lowered both of our hands before turning the gun over to show me the side.
“This is the safety. You click it off when you’re ready to fire. And obviously, that’s the trigger.” He indicated each piece as he explained them. “I can teach you how to load and unload it, but the most important thing is you know how to aim and fire.”
I let out a breath as he raised our hands again. While I hadn’t exactly been on board with this to start with, having Gil wrapped around me this way was too hot for words. Not to mention the way his voice got lower as he told me about the gun.
“Now, take the safety off.”
I did as he said, moving my thumb over it.
“I want you to aim for the middle of the target in front of us.”
I adjusted my aim, squinting to make sure I got it right. It felt weird to do this, but if Gil wanted me to know how, I’d oblige him. Anything to keep him close to me this way. I fought the urge to rub myself against him, even though I was thinking about the way he’d buried his face between my thighs last night. And the way he’d fucked me after he made me come. I had no shame when it came to how much I wanted Gil all up in my pussy on a daily basis. Although, I’d quite happily have him all up in other places too.
“Now fire the gun.”
I swallowed, placed my finger on the trigger and pulled it back, hearing the click, but the gun didn’t go off. My head turned up towards Gil’s. He was grinning down at me.
“Did I do it wrong?”
“No. It’s not loaded.”
I shoved my back into his chest.
“I thought it was going to go off.”
He chuckled and nuzzled my hair with his face.
“I would have warned you about the kickback if that was the case.”
“That’s not playing fair.”
He released my hands and wrapped his arms around my body, pulling me flush against him.
“I’m not interested in playing fair. Now, show me you can do it without my help.”
How on earth did he think I could concentrate when his thumb was running a circle around my waist? I wriggled in his hold, but he merely tightened it.
