I sat up and turned around, seating myself in front of him before taking both of his hands in mine.

“You’re nothing like him. You’d never hurt me the way he did your mother. Even though your cousins think you can’t do this, you’re still trying to fix their problems for them. I’m guessing they don’t know about that part, but it doesn’t matter. It’s what you’re doing that does. You told me you didn’t want to disappoint Zayn and you want to keep your family safe. It’s how I know you’re not anything like Gennaro. You’re Gil. And I happen to like him quite a lot. In fact, I’m kind of hoping one day I’ll get to call him my boyfriend.”

I could feel my cheeks heating up from my words, but I didn’t care. Gil needed to know he wasn’t a monster. He was his own man.

He bit his lip and rubbed his thumb over the back of my hand.

“You can call him that now.”

“I can?”

He nodded.

“I want to be yours, Theia, just as you’re mine.”

I couldn’t fight the smile forming on my lips.

“Well, you’ve just made this girl’s whole entire year.”

“Has it been that slow so far?”

Where the hell did this cheeky side come from? Maybe Edric has been rubbing off on him.

While I hadn’t spent much time around his best friend, I was relatively sure he was the troublemaker out of the two of them.

“I’m going to give you five seconds to take that back.”

“Or what?”

“Or I’m going to teach you a lesson.”

I launched myself at him, shoving him backwards on the bed, and pinned his hands to the covers. The way Gil grinned up at me set my heart on fire.

“I’d like to see you try.”

“I’ll have you know I have many, many tricks up my sleeve. I may have to adapt them considering you’re a rather dangerous mafia boss, but I’m sure I can manage.”

His eyes glittered with amusement for a long moment. I squealed when he flipped us over and pinned me down instead.

“You were saying?”

I curled an eyebrow up.

“Maybe this is exactly what I was hoping for.”

He leant closer, brushing his mouth against mine.

“Was once not enough for my little slut?”

I shook my head. He ran his tongue over my bottom lip, making me tremble beneath him.

“Careful what you wish for, Theia. For all you know, I could go all night.”

Well shit…

“Promises. Promises.”

I knew provoking him could well lead me down a dark path, but at this point, I would follow Gil to the ends of the earth. I’d already thrown myself headlong into this relationship with him. No way was I planning on disembarking from the crazy train any time soon… probably never. For once in my life, I didn’t even care how far down the rabbit hole we went. Only that we were together.
