“Alright, Princess. Let’s go eat. And I’ll talk to Dr. Pratt and see if there’s been any change with your father. I know it will be at least a few days before he wakes up, but Alejandro is the only one that can tell us who he was meeting with when he got shot.” Lennox kissed me on my forehead and grabbed my hand to lead me out of the room.
“No.” I stopped him from walking, “Felicity can tell us who my father had a meeting with. She knows his entire schedule, on or off the books.” I hated to ask Felicity for anything, but if she could tell us that information, I would suck it up and talk to her.
Felicity had briefly checked on my father when we first arrived, but she’d left when most of the family got here. I didn’t think anything of her leaving, it wasn’t like she was welcomed. None of the women in my family liked her.
I never really trusted her, but after she slept with my boyfriend, I chose to stay far away from her. Especially when my father didn’t fire her and pretended it never happened. It was just another slap in the face that I’d pushed down and kept it moving.
Felicity was the least of my worries when it came to dealing with my family. She was just another reminder that I needed to keep my guard up at all times. However, if she had information that would help us find my father’s shooter, I’d be the first one to thank her. She was the last person I wanted to talk to, but I would do it. We definitely needed to find out where Felicity disappeared. I had some questions for her ass.
CHAPTER 18
LENNOX
When we left the suite, everyone was sitting quietly around talking. Sasha, Dove, Mrs. Bishops, and Robin were speaking to Andres Bishops. Even though the men were cousins, Alejandro and Andres looked a lot alike. Alejandro had a darker complexion, but the gray eyes were the same. Not for the first time, I noticed that Robin’s husband Quinton was nowhere to be found. I know Alejandro didn’t like the man, but your father-in-law is in the hospital, and you don’t show up for your wife. Maybe Alejandro was right not to like him.
I surveyed the room, and there were a few men in dark suits talking to one another when I noticed McGregor’s bitchass was talking to them. Something about him didn’t add up, and as soon as my father and brother got here, I was going to find out.
I led Raven over to the rest of her immediate family. She embraced Andres lovingly, and I shook his hand in greeting. We had only met once at our wedding, but now knowing what I know, I was more than a little impressed with the man.
While Raven was conversing with her “Uncle,” Sasha pulled me to the side. I knew what was coming before she even said a word. Her hands were on her hips, and her face was held so tight it looked like she would pop a blood vessel. She was just as small as Raven, probably a few inches shorter, but I could already tell her ass was trouble.
“Before you give me the business, just know what you saw wasnotme cheating on my wife. I would never do that to her.” I held up my hands in a surrendering motion.
Sasha sucked her teeth before eyeing me up and down, “I know you were standing entirely too close to another woman to be married to my best friend. And it may not be my business, but Raven takes too much shit from enough people. She loves you, so if you fuck her over, I will fuck you up.”
“No need for threats, I wouldn’t do that. Felicity can’t keep her hands to herself, so I was correcting her behavior,” I stated simply.
“Hmmm. Well, Felicity is a cuntwaffle? I don’t know why Dr. Bishops won’t just fire her ass. Probably because of her family.” Sasha replied. Her stance was a little more relaxed, but if she was anything like my Princess, I wouldn’t be letting my guard down.
“What the hell is a cuntwaffle. You know what, never mind.” I shook my head. She and Raven were forever calling somebody that name. “What are you talking about… her family? Who’s her family?”
“Oh, you don’t know. Felicity is a McGregor. Well, not technically, her last name is Kelly. Apparently, she’s the cousin that was in and out of rehab. Dr. Bishops hired her as a favor. He should’ve fired her ass after she slept with Fred. I can’t believe a dude namedFredhad the audacity to cheat on a woman like Raven. Maybe he thought he could get more money out of Felicity. He was a gold-digging ass bastard.” Sasha sucked her teeth, shaking her head. I had to make a mental note to ask Sasha questions if I wanted to know anything because she was a fountain of information.
“The McGregor’s really seem to be very close with the Bishops,” I observed out loud watching Cullen. I saw that he was staring at Raven, but hadn’t made a move to go to her yet. I knew he would eventually.
“I don’t know about all that. The McGregor’s want to be close to money like theirs. That’s why Cullen’s funky-ass kept hassling Raven to date him. I’m glad she used her common sense and told his ass to move around.” My eyebrow quirked at the information. Raven told me they had never dated, but she didn’t tell me that Cullen wanted to date her. Sasha was Raven’s best friend, but I had the feeling baby girl couldn’t hold a secret if she tried.
“That’s interesting,” I stated as I watched the snake slither closer and closer to my wife.
“Yeah, interesting. I don’t know why Cullen’s even here. Dr. Bishops couldn’t stand his punk ass. Maybe because he wanted Raven and not his favorite, Robin, he didn’t say much.” I nodded at Sasha’s words, but I don’t think that was the reason at all. Dr. Bishops was hiding a lot more than I initially thought.
“You sure do talk a lot. I thought you said you didn’t like to hold long conversations.” Sawyer’s deep voice interrupted Sasha’s talking. I had a feeling that my brother and Sasha had done more than talk at my wedding, but it wasn’t my business.
“I said I didn’t like to hold conversations withyou,” Sasha replied sassily. I could feel the heat coming off of these two.
“Well, you didn’t seem to have any complaints about my mouth and tongue before…” Sawyer licked his lips, and even though her skin didn’t show it, I could tell by the way Sasha’s eyes went wide and she dipped her head that she was blushing.
My eyes volleyed back and forth between the two of them silently staring at one another. But before this little tit for tat could continue, my father walked in. He had a few men with him, and I knew the situation was serious.
Conrad Nash kept a very low profile when it came to the mob lifestyle. If you didn’t know any better, you would think he was an ordinary businessman. My father didn’t drive flashy cars, although he usually had a driver, and he didn’t call attention to himself in ways one might think a Don of an Irish Mafia family would. He was very calculating in that way. And he rarely brought his men around. He always had guards, but they were never seen. They stayed in the shadows watching and waiting.
Now, they were by his side. And that only meant one thing… trouble.
* * *
I didn’t want to leave Raven in the room with McGregor because I didn’t trust the bastard. I had way more suspicions now that I found out who the hell Felicity was. However, some of Andres’ men were there for protection, so I knew she would be safe. It was past time to get to the bottom of all this bullshit and find out why somebody tried to kill Alejandro.
Before I left with my father and brother to a secure location to have our discussion, I checked in with Dr. Pratt to make sure Alejandro was still stable. It had been over six hours since the surgery, but Dr. Pratt recommended keeping him in the ICU for at least another day. There was nothing left to do but wait.
