Page 56 of Deserving Maddie

Well, when her friend went and put it like that … She used to be self-conscious of doing that as well but quickly got over it when she realized neither of her children paid attention to what she was reading. It surprised her to realize just how often she could get away with reading smutty scenes in public with no one being the wiser.

Kat: I'm just glad to know he's opening you up to new things. Anthony was stifling your sex drive, and it's good to see Ray is encouraging it.

Maddie: He's certainly doing that.

She wasn't about to admit just how much Ray was encouraging it. A night didn't go by that he wasn't asking her to try something new. Sometimes it was as simple as playing with herself and other times he wanted to see if he could get her off with just his words. Spoiler alert: he was able to. She would never bet against him. She already owed him one hell of a blowjob.

Ray: Did she give you shit about it?

Maddie: Hell no. She encouraged it.

Ray: Good. I knew I would like her.

She smiled. Yeah, Ray and Kat would get along great. They would bond over her embarrassment.

Truthfully, she was okay with it. Her best friend hated Anthony and vice versa. It made for some very uncomfortable times, so she would take the two of them ganging up on her any day of the week.

Chapter 25

Raycouldn'tkeepthesmile off his face. After not seeing Maddie for nearly a week, he was finally able to convince her to take some time away from work to meet him for lunch.

"Why are you smiling so weirdly?"

"Why are you here again?" he asked Trista in return.

"Where else would I be? And don't avoid the question."

There went his smile. He wondered daily how she and Falcon hadn't killed each other yet. His team leader didn't have that much patience.

"At your own office. You know, the one that's not in this building. And if you must know, it wasn't a weird smile. It was a normal one because I'm about to go have lunch with Maddie after I speak with the team about Wraith."

"That's why I'm here, and aw." Her entire face turned into that strange overly girl one that usually meant she was going to get mushy on him. "I'm so happy for the two of you. I like seeing that smile on you."

"You just called it weird," he reminded her.

"Duh. I just said that to annoy you."

There was something seriously wrong with his team leader's wife. He wasn't sure what exactly that was, but she was not normal. Maybe she was dropped too many times on her head as a baby. That would explain some of the bizarre behavior, or the fact that she didn't know how to do anything but drive those around her bonkers.

"Tell me exactly why Wes invited you to this meeting?"

"I never said he invited me. I overheard Falcon talking with him about it and decided to invite myself."

Well, this should be fun.

"Lead the way." He dramatically bowed.

Trista threw him the middle finger and walked past him.

Her husband didn't look the least bit surprised when she walked in ahead of him.

"One of these days eavesdropping is going to get you into trouble." Falcon shook his head.

"Fortunately for me, today isn't one of those days."

She plopped down into a chair and crossed her hands on the table expectantly. Ray raised his brow and looked at his boss and team leader.

"Apparently the princess is ready." Wes rolled his eyes.
