PS: Grandpa Gray liked the éclairs too. I saw it in his eyes.

PPS: I met Scooby. He’s a Shetland sheepdog, so Scoobs fits him a little better than Scooby (in my mind).

PPPS: Alec smelled like the sea. I’m trying to decide whether I like that or not. I’m a big proponent of the sea and absolutely adore walking along the beach, but with my history with sea monsters, I can’t fully commit to adoring the scent of the sea.

PPPPS: Do you think Matt really had a business meeting? Or do you think he was on another date?

Text from Matt to Penelope:Thank you for the éclairs. I appreciate the effort you made in saving them from Alec.

Penelope:Did you like the sprinkles? Iris chose yours very especially. With the green sprinkles. She said green is your favorite color, so I made sure to have those color sprinkles on hand.

Matt:I’m not certain what to think of you having green sprinkles on hand just for me.

Penelope:I can tell you’re being sarcastic right now. I have a brother. But I can also tell you liked them, so I’m smiling even more.

Matt:I’m happy to know my sarcasm can bring a smile to your face. I’ll be certain to enlist my sarcasm in the future with more dedication.

Penelope:Smiling bigger right now. BTW, my optimism always rises to the sarcasm as if it’s going to battle. Some people view my optimism as silliness or lack of depth of character, but I assure you, my optimism is one of my best and surest weapons.

Matt:Optimism as a weapon? That’s a rather original weapon you wield quite well. I’ll come armed with my sarcasm to keep you amply engaged then.

Penelope:I knew the éclairs would help! See how much fun we’re having through texts? Well-baked goods have magical qualities for curing grumpiness. You can be sure that I’m a devout consumer of delicious baked goods and look how happy I am!

Matt:Are you saying that I’m grumpy?

Penelope:Your eyebrows don’t lie, Matt. You could do with a bit more optimism in your life. Lucky for you, I’m here until December!

Matt:Lucky me, indeed.

Penelope:I’m sensing sarcasm again.

Matt:It’s a good thing you come armed then, isn’t it?

Subject: Websites and bicycles

Lunch with Alec was delightful! He is so charming and curious. He asked about my home and you all, and he wanted to know about my education. Then he listened as I shared some of my ideas for The Darling House, which proved providential because it was like a dress rehearsal for the meeting I had after lunch. A staff meeting consisting of Alec, Matt, Evelyn, and Dani, while Grandpa Gray and Gwynn joined via video, occurred where we discussed the upcoming performances, my initial ideas for marketing (with examples of my graphics), and the website draft (of which I gained unanimous approval to make live). It was wonderful to feel a part of the team.

So I’m spending the rest of the afternoon working on the website, which I also need to check AGAIN for grammar and spelling. How is it that you can read something nine thousand times and still find spelling errors? I think the computer does that on purpose! Then tomorrow I hope to delve back into storage in hopes of finding more things to use for the float!!

BTW, I am riding my bicycle to work tomorrow. It’s supposed to be a lovely day!

Josephine, I ADORED seeing the twins in their swimsuits. Is there anything cuter than baby chub? Those legs!! I almost cried yesterday because I missed them so much, but then I rode my bicycle to the nearby lake and stared at the view. I felt better after that.

Plus, I made cookies.

Love,

Penelope

PS: Matt really did have a business meeting. But he has another date tonight so I offered to keep Iris again! I’m going to introduce her toAlice in Wonderland. No princesses at all. Just a crazy queen.

PPS: I think a tea party is in order for tonight too. I bet she’ll choose my Edwardian Ascot hat. I’ll send photos.
