I sigh. "It's going… good. Better than good."
"That's it?"
"We have something really special. And I feel so lucky to have him in my life."
I smile as I think about the past few weeks. Everything has changed for the better since Brock and I got together.
Then, I grit my teeth. "There's one slight problem."
"Uh oh."
"It's not a major problem, per se. He still seems hung up on his ex, Amanda."
"I see." Stella takes a bite of her burger. "And how do you feel about that?"
"I'm not sure. I mean, I know she's his ex, but I want him all to myself, you know?"
"Understandable. Well, he is a player, so..."
"He'snota player."
"I'm only repeating what I hear."
"I'm the only one who knows Brock's soul. And for God's sake, he was in a long term relationship with Amanda. He hasn't had time to be with other girls."
"What about guys?"
I roll my eyes. "He didn't even know he liked guys until he met me. He absolutely wasn't fooling around with guys."
Stella holds my hand. "Then it sounds like you need to remember that Brock likes you, and that means he's not going to get back with Amanda. Trust me."
I nod, slightly better. "Yeah. I guess you're right."
"Of course I am. Now, come on. Let's go find some vegan ice cream."
"We'll have less of a chance of finding that than the burgers."
"Where there are vegan burgers, there's vegan ice cream."
We head back inside, and to our surprise, we see Waxley at the counter with a stud.
My jaw drops. "Waxley! Are you on a date?"
Waxley turns around, his face red. "Uh, yeah. I guess you could say that."
I laugh. "Who's the lucky man?"
He grins. "This is Emerson."
"Hi," Emerson says, waving.
"Nice to meet you," I reply.
We exchange pleasantries, and after a few minutes, Waxley and Emerson head to a booth arm in arm. Once they're gone, I turn to her. "Well, that was unexpected."
She grins. "Yeah, Waxley's not usually one for public displays of affection."
"And here he is with a date. Who knew?"
