“Thanks for tonight,” she said.

“It was my pleasure. Maybe we can do it again sometime?”

“I’d like that.”

“Are you free during the week?”

She scrunched her nose in that adorable way she has.

“Not really. Anjannette and I are still putting the finishing touches on the beginners’ series so we’re staying late to work on that all week. But Saturday should be good.”

“Saturday it is. And if you’re not too tired during the week when you get home, give me a call.”

“I will.”

I leaned down and gave her a quick kiss then opened the screen door and stepped back as she unlocked the door.

“Great. I’ll talk to you during the week and we’ll make plans.”

She opened the door and stepped inside then watched until I got back behind the wheel. I waved as I pulled out of the driveway then turned onto the street.

I’ll admit I’m bummed things ended the way they did. I finally got my hands on her and ruined the moment by bumping the horn. Talk about a bonehead move.

But I suppose it’s for the best. Because something tells me that once I really get to touch and explore her amazing body, I’m not going to want to stop.

CHAPTER9

Keera

I pulledup in front of the house, surprised to see my mom’s car in the driveway. Not that she doesn’t stop in often, but she’s not usually here this late.

Grabbing my duffle bag, I got out of the car and went inside.

“You’re home late,” my mom said.

“Yeah, we’re working on the beginners’ series,” I said. “I think we’re finally done.”

“Did you eat?” Granny Vi asked. “There’s pizza.”

“Thanks, but Leo brought us takeout,” I said. “I’ll be right back. I want to throw this into the wash.”

I walked through the kitchen and into the laundry room. After opening the washing machine lid, I unzipped the duffle and pulled out an assortment of pole shorts and tops and tossed them in. I added a pod, closed the lid, and headed back out to the living room.

My mom and Granny Vi stopped talking as I approached and watched me sit on the couch.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” my mom said. “But Granny Vi mentioned that you might have a new beau.”

Now I know why my mom’s still here. I glared at my grandmother.

“Granny Vi talks too much.”

“I didn’t know it was supposed to be a secret.” she said.

“It’s not, but I didn’t think it was newsworthy either.”

“I wouldn’t say it’snewsworthy, but it is interesting,” my mother said. “Simon is your friend that dad and I met at Party on the Patio, right? The one with the reddish hair?”
