Henry thinks I should leave Camile alone. "She is probably having a moment," Henry says. "I am sure she will come back to you once she gets over it all."

I don't think this is one of the “moments” Camile needs. We talked before she left the house on the day she disappeared. We had made love the night before. "I don't think so," I reply. "I just need to find her; I just need her to speak to me."

“You still think Mom has something to do with it?” Henry asks. I shake my head, unable to tell him I think Mother in fact made her disappear.

“Come to think of it; she disappeared a few days after Camile became the shareholder in the hospital; it cannot all be a mere coincidence."

"Or, Camile disappeared because she has gotten what she wanted in the marriage. You have always suspected she wanted something; maybe this is what she wanted," Henry offers. I wish he would stop talking, but he adds, "I mean, look at it, maybe she is here for revenge, and she left just when you got her the shares."

I close my eyes, hoping to resist the picture Henry is trying to paint. “No!” I respond. “Camile would not do that. Just tell Amelia I am here to see her.” I beg Henry as he goes off into their bedroom to get her.

Amelia looks at me with sad eyes. I can see that she doesn't want to talk to me because she probably blames me for the disappearance of her best friend - her only friend.

She folds her hand around her chest, standing across from me at the patio table. "I don't know where Camile is," she says. "I talked to her once, and she made me promise not to call her again until she calls me."

"Amelia," I start. "I need to talk to Camile. I am going crazy here; I need to speak with her."

Amelia frowns. "I can't help you, Troy," she says. "Camile wants her privacy, and that is what I want to give her."

"Do you know where she might be?" I ask her. "Any clue? Just a clue!"

Amelia rolls her eyes. "What I know is that Camile wants to get away from you as much as she can," she responds. "She wants to get away from your family and is starting over somewhere."

"We didn't fight," I say. "We were on good terms before she left."

Amelia inhales hard before she speaks. "I am not supposed to say this," she utters and looks around. "I think it had to do with your mom," she says, "with Mrs. Robinson."

My jaw drops, and I rub my face. "What?" I ask, "My mother has something to do with Camile leaving?"

Amelia beams. “I know it is hard to believe; I only have my suspicion.”

"What suspicion?" My eyes beg Amelia to tell me. I hold myself from taking her hand.

Amelia sighs. "I think your mother threatened her," she reveals. "That is the only thing I can think of." She goes on, "We were on the phone that afternoon before she suddenly went off the call. She says your mother was calling the home line and would call me back right after she talked to her."

I raise my brows, waiting for Amelia to continue. “That is it,” she replies. “She calls after a while to tell me she is leaving Wallace.”

I lean forward my chair. “What could Mother have said to Camile?”

Amelia's confused face lets me know that I have spoken my thoughts out loud.

"I don't know," Amelia says and shrugs. "You'd have to ask your mother."

Amelia is right; I'll have to ask her what she knows about Camile's disappearance. Everything that has happened with Camile seems fishy. According to Amelia, Camille had spoken to Mother just a few minutes before she ran off.

I watch Amelia leave the patio and go into the house. She brushes past Henry; I can tell they also have unsettled issues.

I couldn't care less; at least Mother isn't after sending Amelia out of Henry's life. I meet Henry by the pool as he asks me if I got what I needed.

“I need to ask you something,” I say. “When you told me about Camile using me to get revenge for her father, were you serious?”

Henry looks at me like I just asked him the dumbest question ever. "Yes," he replies, "that is what Mom said."

“Mom put you up to it?” I frown at him. “She asked you to make me believe that Camile left because she already got what she wanted?”

Henry adds, "Look, you are the firstborn of this family. Mom needs you to be on top of your game. I need you; the hospital needs you too." Henry swallows. "You need to put yourself together and forget about Camile. She may be gone for good."

“I can’t believe this is coming from you,” I say. “You are supposed to be on my side.”
