I don't turn to look her in the eyes; I just walk away from her presence and head to the door.

I feel my chest tighten as I open the door to my car. I hold my chest, fearing that my heart will explode. I wait to catch my breath before calling the one person who may know where Camile is.

Amelia's phone goes to voicemail the five times I try to call her, so I settle with calling Henry, who calls me back panicked.

"Where are you?" he asks, and his panic rubs off on me.

"What is wrong, bro," I ask Henry, who wonders if I haven't seen the news recently. "No," I reply, "I just left Mother's house."

Henry mentions that it only means that Mother hasn't seen the news yet. "It is not looking good, bro. Your secret marriage is leaked all over the place. The media is going crazy. You should leave when you can before the press bugs that place."

Now I know why Henry panicked over the phone. Leaking news is bad for the family and the hospital as well.

This means that Emilie's parents, among the most influential shareholders in the company, can pull out anytime soon. It is even worse that they can pull out other shareholders.

"What are you going to do, Bro?" Henry asks, but I am less concerned about the media outrage. What matters is to get to Camile and try to find her father.

"I need to find Camile, Henry. I need to find her," I insist, hoping he will ask Amelia about Camile's whereabouts, but Henry thinks I am crazy for prioritizing Camile over the crumbling family business.

Henry thinks I should hold a press conference to debunk the news spreading like wildfire.

"I can't debunk it," I say. "It is true that I married Camile, and I have no reason to deny it."

"Think of Emilie's family; think of what not having them will do to the hospital," Henry pleads.

"Fuck Emilie and her family," I respond. "You should have married Emilie's sister if you care much about the family."

Henry laughs at my words before hanging up. I call Camile, hoping to speak to her, but it goes to voicemail.

Amelia calls back just as I am about to give up; and after so much pressing, she tells me that Camile is in a hotel downtown.

Amelia makes me promise not to tell Camile she told me where she is hiding. I promise her hastily, and I hit the road to the hotel.

Getting the hotel's receptionist to divulge what room Camile is in is more difficult. Her name tag says, Janice. She is a tall blonde girl that should be a runway model instead of a receptionist. I show her Camile's picture, begging for her to tell me which room she is lodged in.

Janice looks at me suspiciously as she calls the room’s line. When Janice drops the call, she informs me Camile doesn't want her to reveal her room number. She refuses to tell me because Camile told her not to say a word to a male stranger matching my description.

"I am her husband," I say, but it is only going to make it worse. She takes a step back, promising to call the police and report a case of domestic violence.

I look behind me. I can see security about to step in, and other people milling about the lobby are beginning to wonder what is going on. I raise my hands so they can see them.

“I didn’t hurt her,” I tell her. “I love her so much. I just need to speak with her.”

Janice still refuses to let me know. “I am only doing my job, Mr.,” she says. “I am so sorry.”

I am turning to leave when she tells me there is one thing I can do. "You can wait for her in the lobby," she says. "She comes out every day by six pm to get a delivery."

I check the time and curse under my breath. It is just three in the afternoon, so I have to wait three more hours before I can talk to Camile.

Janice looks around and offers me a chair to get comfortable while I wait. I look around the busy lobby and sit beside a pregnant lady. She is waiting while her husband books for a room.

I wait impatiently, checking my watch every minute, hoping time will work in my favor today.

The increased news volume catches my attention, and I acknowledge that Henry was right.

My face, Camile's, and Emilie's are up on the TV screen while the news anchors debate why Troy Robinson would ditch Emilie to marry anobody.
