I gritted my teeth to hold back the tidal wave building inside me. Being with her was too easy, and I was already too close. I reached down, stroking her clit as I pounded into her. “I want to see you come on my cock.”

“I can’t.” Her eyes squeezed shut, her head thrashing back and forth on the pillow. “Not yet.”

“You’re so fucking tight. You fit me so perfectly.” I slammed into her, and she arched up beneath me. “You can do anything.”

Her breath caught, every muscle in her body going rigid.

I kept going. Kept touching her. Kept shoving her to the edge of another release.

She tossed her head back, pleasure and pain warring on her face. The orgasm consumed her, and she opened her mouth, but little sound left her lips. She just moaned and moaned, and I rode the waves of her climax as her pussy pulsed around me.

I tried pulling out to flip her over and finish her from behind, but her leg tightened around my waist.

“Let me watch you.” She was still breathing hard, eyes barely fluttering open. “Please?”

I let go of her clit and dragged my hand up her chest, to her neck, and I wove my fingers into her hair. My voice was raw as I continued driving into her, burying myself as deep as I could. “Scarlett.”

The orgasm ripped through me, a shockwave of pleasure so intense I could barely function. The pleasure went on and on, and I couldn’t do anything but ride it out. Couldn’t think of anything but the woman beneath me.

She opened her eyes as I collapsed on top of her. Her lips parted, but she said nothing.

I pressed my forehead to hers, unable to do anything but breathe.

The stress over my failed heist, the guilt over leaving Emmett behind, the stupid need to prove myself to this amazing woman. It all faded as her arms wrapped around me.

It was me, Scarlett. I was working with the gunman in Boston. I stole Zac’s phone. When I saw Emmett at the poker game, my first thought was to get the Codex from him.The truth was alright there, and I wanted to give it to her. I wanted to be as vulnerable as she’d been—to show her she wasn’t alone. There was something real between us.

But if I told her, she’d leave.

She’d see the real me and toss me aside like everyone else did.

I rolled off her and lay on my back. She followed, draping her hand over my chest. My heart slammed against that hand, begging to escape. I had to leave her before I gave any more of myself to a woman I didn’t deserve. But I didn’t want to leave.

After a quick glance to find the trashcan, I removed the condom and tossed it in the general direction.

“So...” Scarlett propped her head up on my chest. “Was that a half dozen total or each?”

I chuckled and combed my fingers through her hair.

Her lazy smile appeared, and another truth came over me.

I’m falling in love with you, Scarlett.

A fresh wave of panic crashed into my brain. This was definitely a mistake.

Chapter 36

Scarlett

Thethickplumcomforterhad landed on the floor at least an hour ago, pillows strewn across the room, and the thin white sheet lay in a crumpled heap. Twilight settled through the room from the ceiling height terrace doors which overlooked St. Mark’s Square.

“Three more to go for you.” Malcolm’s fingers trailed up and down my forearm, draped across his bare chest.

I chuckled and closed my eyes, nestling my head in the crook of his shoulder. “I can’t believe I said that out loud.”

“Ican’t believe you said that out loud.” His breathing was soft and rhythmic, a dramatic departure from the heated grunts and pants which had occupied my ears for the last two hours. “It means you’ll need to agree to a few more days here with me though. Not sure I can take care of all that by tomorrow.”

“It’s a little late to ask now, but…” I curled my leg higher on his thigh, pressing my body to his side. “You’re single, right?”
