“You should be. I’m just saying that I’m happy to see you like this.”

“Get used to it, Princess. This is the new me. In fact, when we finish our dance, I’m going to dance with your mother.”

I can’t help but laugh when he says it.

“You think I’m joking? She told me she’s a great salsa dancer. I want to see that for myself.”

“No salsa with my mother, please,” I say, still laughing.

“I was thinking. Now that I’m going to have so much more time on my hands, maybe it’s time to show the kids where their mother grew up. How do you feel about a trip to America?”

“Really? I’d love that, but it’s not my home anymore and America is a big country. What do you want to see?”

“Everything. We’ll go for as long as it takes.”

“That sounds amazing. You have to be careful, though. Once we introduce the kids to American theme parks, they might not want to come back home.”

“So I’ll buy some property while we’re there. That way we can go back to visit every year. Where would you want to live in America?”

“It’s silly, but, when I was a little girl, I dreamed of growing up and living in Kentucky with the racehorses.”

“Then, I guess I’ll have to buy you a racehorse, too. Anything for you. Everything for you, always. All we have is time and each other, baby girl.”

We return to the table. As promised, Giovanni asks my mother to dance.

“I would love to dance with the man of the hour. Your father never takes me dancing,” she says.

As I watch them dance, I think about my life and how lucky I am.

At no time in my life did I think I would be married to a mob boss and raising a family in a lavish compound in Italy. Before I met Giovanni, I would have called anyone who suggested it crazy. I didn’t know that this world existed, but more importantly, I didn’t know that men like him existed.

He’s a businessman, a wise guy, a loving father, and the sexiest man alive. He told me on our first night together that if I gave myself to him, I would be his forever. I told him that I hoped so, and I meant it. Coming to Italy was the best decision of my life, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

The End.
