Taylor grinned. “Afraid your wife will show you up?”
Colt laughed. “Damned straight!”
Other family, friends and well-wishers gathered around as Dane pulled Colt’s truck up to the curb. After a short, two-hour reception, Colt and Taylor would head for Pinos Altos, New Mexico. It was a nine-hour drive of 570 miles.
Dane handed the truck keys to Colt with a grin. “Don’t get lost on the way to the reception. I want to catch that garter.”
Colt laughed. “Not a chance.” He picked Taylor up and swung her in a circle. “Let’s get this show on the road, wife.”
Grinning, she gave him a big smack of a kiss. “You’re wasting time, husband. Let’s go!” His eyes were so full of love and happiness that she thought she’d melt. She’d never been this full of joy, and she couldn’t believe that every day for the rest of her life would be just like this.
Chapter Seventeen
Fresh from the shower, Colt turned out the room lights. They’d booked the log cabin bed and breakfast for their wedding night, even though they were getting up early in the morning to meet their guide for breakfast. Pinos Altos was a scenic historic town, and they were staying an extra day after their hunt to explore it. During the guided hunt, they’d camp out, but afterwards, they’d stay in this house again.
His eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, and he made his way to the bed. He slipped under the covers next to Taylor, who had bathed first, and he was surprised and excited to find her body naked to his touch. He pulled her to him, her back pressed against his chest.
“Ooh, you’re cold. I wonder if we should have built a fire before bed,” Taylor said.
He tightened his arms around her. “Don’t worry, I’ll warm you up.”
She chuckled. “I was hoping you’d say that. You’re not too tired? You drove the whole way.”
“Are you kidding me? You think I’d be too tired to make love to my new wife? Not happening, baby. Not in this lifetime.”
He was already hard and pressing against her back. He slipped his fingers between her soft folds and was surprised to find her already wet. With a light touch, he found her sensitive spot with his fingertip and circled it round and round. She sucked in a breath and reached her arm between them, guiding him inside her.
God, she was hot and tight and slick and perfect. Everything he’d ever dreamed of in a woman. She sighed and put his other hand on her breast. He nuzzled her neck and whispered, “I love you, honey, more than you’ll ever know.” She turned her head, encircling his neck with her arm, and kissed him gently. “You mean everything to me, Colt. You’re the sunshine of my day and the warm darkness of my night. Everywhere I go, every hour of my day, I think of you and of how much I love you.”
As his fingers worked their magic, he began his slow rhythm in a sweet, gentle lovemaking that fed the fires of his soul. Her soft hands explored him, sending sensual waves of pleasure washing through him. When he felt Taylor’s body tense, and as she spasmed around him, he found his own release. Never had loving been so tender, so meaningful. This hadn’t been sex; it was a sharing of their souls.

Taylor stepped up intothe stirrup and, with a firm grip on the saddle horn, dragged herself with a strangled grunt onto the seat of the saddle. With a triumphant grin, she told Colt, “That wasn’t so bad.”
He patted her mule’s neck. “Ruby, you take good care of my wife, you hear?”
