With that, I slam into her deeper; harder. Again and again, working my hips in steady, aggravated rhythms.

“I’m gonna turn you over and fuck you from behind, right here in the dirt,” I warn her, flipping her onto her stomach before burying myself inside her once more.

“Harder!” she cries out with each stroke, her screams echoing through the emptiness of the surrounding woods.

That’s when I lose all composure, fucking her as hard as I can. My pelvis collides harshly with her round ass and our skin smacks loudly. With my knees digging into the ground, I tighten my grasp on her hips and drive into her savagely.

“Yes!” she screams, pushing back and meeting my every thrust. Her body tenses as I lean against her, locking my fingers around her throat and cutting off her air supply.

“I’m—” she chokes out, convulsing against me. “Oh, God, I’m going to—“

“Damn right you are.”

Monsters, indeed.

Chapter Thirteen

Nolan

Nothing is said as we get our clothes back on and walk back to the car. The engine clicks on, the lights snap to life, and we drive away. I catch glimpses of us in the reflection of the mirrors and windows. Our hair is tangled, with leaves and grass caught in it, faces smeared with blood and dirt. There is a twig in my shoe. We look like we crawled out of graves.

I pull up to her car that we left in the store parking lot, catching my reflection in the rearview mirror to realize that we look even worse under the harsh lights of civilization.

“This changes nothing,” Cora says.

“Okay.”

“Nothing,” she reiterates.

She gets out, slamming the door without looking back. Smiling to myself, I drive away.

Why would I want things to change?

Cora

It’s been years since I’ve last smoked a cigarette, but after my encounter with Nolan out in the woods, I’m dying for the harsh burn of a nicotine fix. Opening the window in my bedroom, I spark one up, inhaling a much needed drag.

I breathe out a thick cloud of smoke, sinking onto the floor with my back pressed to the wall. Squeezing my eyes shut, I replay the memories from earlier.

Killing the deer.

The sight of blood, and the enticing glow of the red liquid was almost just enough to send me to an orgasm. The intoxicating scent of copper overwhelmed my senses and left me falling into a bottomless well of euphoria.

Adrenaline.

That surely must have been what sent me over the brink.

Right?

Tossing back another shot of vodka, I cringe, trying to shake away unwanted thoughts. Although, it fails to work.

Instead, I see Nolan, covered in sweat and blood, the muscles flexing in his arms and shoulders as he fucked me into the dirt.

The way he felt spread like cool vines in my mind. Seeding thoughts of the way he made me feel. Blossoming into the keening cries of the way he made me come.

“Jesus Christ,” I mutter to myself, putting my cigarette out on the windowsill before climbing into bed.

No man has ever been able to get me off. Not until tonight. Not untilNolan.
