“Nuh-huh. Too stylish and clean, despite his five-o’clock shadow.”

“An entrepreneur.”

Tito shakes his head. “Too rough around the edges. And too handsome. Guys like that either don’t have a brain or use it for something more edgy.”

“Harsh,” Jace says, grinning as he’s staring at the guy fighting his way through the crowd. “Edgy, huh?”

“Maybe a cop,” Becky says with a glint in her eyes that’s a cue she’s found a new prey for tonight.

“A professional athlete. A boxer, maybe,” Tito suggests.

“Single,” Becky guesses.

“Divorced,” Tito snaps. “Baby mama is a psycho. And even hotter than him.”

“He came to hunt. Oh, yeah, baby.” Becky is interested.

“Oh, no,” I murmur and lean over to Jace. “They do this all the time. Sometimes, they place bets. Trust me, it gets suspenseful. Looks like Becky found a new target. If he’s single, watch her. She’ll mess with the guy just to win a bet with Tito.”

Jace raises his eyebrows in amusement. “They have bets, huh?”

“Yep.”

“Hey, Tito.” Jace gives him a backward nod. “I bet the guy is single, does sales, and he’ll be ready to take Becky home within five minutes, without her even trying.”

Both Becky and Tito burst out laughing.

Becky cocks a brow. “Jace Reed, you have a gambling streak in you. Who would’ve known?”

Tito leans over the table, bringing his face close to Jace’s. “It’s a bet. Which part?”

“All three,” Jace says. “If I’m wrong about any of those, I lose.”

“Fierce.” Tito’s eyes light up. “What’s the bet?”

“A beer.”

Tito falls back onto his chair. “Yawn.”

“Breakfast,” Jace retorts right away.

Tito sits up straight. “In bed?”

“Sure.” Jace grins.

“Hey!” I protest. Not fair.

Jace laughs freely, and I’m startled for a moment.

His laugh… Wow… It’s a weapon. My skin tingles at the soft low sound, so beautiful I want to paint it, just like every other bit of him. His body. His smile. His voice, dreams, and thoughts.

Jace’s laughter quiets, and his hand slides to the small of my back as he leans over.

My body right away tenses and leans into him as if there’s some gravity between us.

Jace has never been so straightforward. He’s never touched me like this before.

His hot murmur grazes my cheek. “Don’t worry. Tito’s idea of breakfast in bed is a little over the top. I win—he’s servingyoubreakfast in bed.”
