“Sexy as what?”

“It’s an old antipodean Earth expression. It doesn’t mean anything.”

Talon shakes his head at me. “Breeding isn’t always glamorous,” he says. “But it’s always worthwhile.”

“Luca is waiting for me,” I say, changing the subject. “Can I go?”

“Dismissed, but keep your pussy fresh for me tonight. I don’t want cyborg seconds, you understand?”

I roll my eyes, then skip out of the way of his swat.

Luca meets me in the recreation bay. We’re going to play an equivalent of tennis in their virtual reality chamber. It’s pretty fun, sometimes we ‘go’ places on Earth, sometimes we fly through stars. There are endless simulation programs to play through, including ones that are nothing more than a room with a roaring fire and a bearskin rug. Luca and I have spent many hours on that virtual rug, but today that is out of the question, even though I wish it wasn’t when he comes in wearing nothing but a loincloth and a smile, the bulge of his cock clear underneath the fabric.

“I love that you never wear clothes.”

His big, oh so human hands wrap around my waist and he lifts me off my feet, pulling me against his chest. His lips press against mine in a warm, affectionate kiss and I feel that bulge pressing against my sensitive areas.

“Let’s get you out of yours.”

“I can’t. Talon says he wants me fresh tonight.”

Luca’s smile only widens. “We’ll freshen you up afterward.” He cups my ass and bumps his hips forward, riding against mine. I feel a rush of excitement between my legs, desire that courses through me and makes me want to throw caution to the wind and let him take me.

“I mean, I can always shower. He won’t know...”

That’s all it takes before Luca’s mouth is on mine, cutting off the rest of my words, and my suit is peeling off my body to meet the floor. I forget about everything besides him. My desire for Luca is almost innocent, purely carnal, without concern or drama. He is pure heat and when he touches me, I burn in the best of ways.

Iam on my back, Luca’scock plunging between my thighs, my ankles next to his ears when the creature attacks.

The ship shudders, a viscerally terrifying sound. It’s like it is being ripped apart, I hear metal tearing like tissue paper, and a moment later the wall beside us simply dissolves into nothing.

Darkness pulses outside it, a pure, complete lack of existence. It’s not the dark of absence of light. It is the dark of total consumption of all light, all hope, all being.

The thing masses at the borders of being, and I feel my stomach clench with pure fear. The concept of black holes always creeped me out, the idea that there were areas of space where everything was sucked into nothing was frightening enough, but this thing is like a sentient black hole.

“Hey!” I yell. “Go away!”

“Come away. We need to get to the center of the ship,” Luca is tugging at me, but my feet are planted and though he could easily move me if he really wanted to, he lets me make my stand.

“No, fuck that. We need to stand here and tell whatever this is to fuck off.”

“I’m sure they’ve thought of that before,” Luca says, gripping my arm and pulling me away.

“I’m equally sure they haven’t.”

“Go away!”

The nebulous black mass seeps around the ragged hole it made.

“I’m serious! Fuck off!”

“We have to go!”

I wave my arms and jump up and down. “Shooo! Bad! Don’t you do that!”

The darkness hesitates for a moment, then reaches a little tendril toward me, a small little curling arm that reminds me of an octopus or some other sea creature capable of contorting its body.
