“It’s actually made up completely of water.”
My eyes widened at his point. “You’re right! It’s a body of water!”
I slapped him on the chest as Julio placed another drink in front of me. I grabbed the straw and placed it in my mouth and chugged. Man, this was a really good drink. I wasn’t sure I’d ever had anything this tasty in my life. I nodded as I guzzled it, watching as Patrick shook his head at me.
“I suppose it’s too late for food,” he sighed. “I give it one hour.”
My eyes went wide. “Ooh! What happens in one hour?”
“This all comes back up.”
“Like, we get to have more daiquiris?”
His smile stretched his face. “Sure.”
“What’s going on?”
I turned and grinned at my husband. “Asher! You’re just in time for this delicious drink,” I said, snatching my drink off the counter and holding it high. The pink liquid splashed over the side and landed on his bare foot. He looked down at it, then glowered at Patrick.
“You got her drunk?”
“Hey, I gave her one drink. She wouldn’t get food or stop drinking it, which was half the problem.”
I interrupted him and pulled on my husband’s hand. “Did you know this tastes like strawberries? Here!” I shoved it in his face until he finally wrapped his lips around the straw and took a drink. I sighed at the beauty of his lips. He really was a gorgeous man.
“You know, when you’re not scowling, you’re very pretty.”
“She thinks you’re pretty,” Patrick grinned. “Did you hear that?”
“And not just pretty,” I continued. “He smells good too.” I sighed, sucking down more of my drink. “It’s a shame he doesn’t ever smile.”
“I smile,” Asher said defensively.
“I haven’t seen it.” Then I spun on my stool and faced Patrick. “But I will let you in on a secret. At the wedding…that kiss?” I fanned my face as I thought back to his lips on mine. “Electric.”
Patrick glanced over at his friend and nodded. “I have no experience with that, so I’ll have to take your word for it.”
“You should try it!” I said excitedly. “It’s soooo good.”
“Yeah, I’m not really into guys.”
I snorted at that. “It’s just a kiss. It’s not like I’m asking you to drop your pants and have him…do that stuff to you.”
Patrick flushed bright red and shook his head. “And this is the moment I leave you to take your very drunk wife back to the bungalow and hold her hair back as she pukes.”
“I’m not going to puke,” I insisted. I spun back to the bar. “Julio! Another round!”
“Actually, that’s enough, Julio.”
I scowled at my husband. “You’re no fun. Since the day I met you, you’ve been boring,” I said, trying to sing, but failing miserably.
“Well, some of us have jobs that require our full attention.”
I snorted as he grabbed my arm and pulled me off the stool, but made sure to grab my drink. “You mean, like illegal things?”
He gripped my arm tight as he led me down the path. I sucked more of the fruity drink and sighed at the warm sun on my face. “You shouldn’t be unhappy in a place like this.”
“I never said I was unhappy.”
