A big smile spreads across my face, my heart swelling in my chest. “Hi, Pumpkin. How was your day?”
My little girl is growing so fast. Too fast. She keeps reminding me this is her last year in the single digits. I hate that Molly isn’t here to see it. Grace looks more and more like her every day with her big green eyes and ginger hair. Even some of her mannerisms remind me of Molly.
“Good.” She tosses her backpack down on the couch as she makes her way over to me. “Did you know the Earth has four layers?”
I bend down to give her a quick hug and a kiss on the head. “I’m sure I did learn that at some point in my life. Though I can’t say I retained that knowledge.”
“What’s for dinner?” she asks, quickly shifting gears.
“I thought I’d make some spaghetti tonight.”
Her eyes light up with excitement. “That’s my favorite!”
“You don’t say.” I chuckle. “Well, that’s good.”
Truth be told, I’m feeling a little guilty about leaving her on my night off. Not that she’ll care. Tonya is bringing movies, snacks, and stuff to do her nails. Grace will be thrilled.
“Why don’t you go get washed up so you can help me? Tonya is coming to have dinner with us, then you two are going to hang out. I’ve got something to take care of.”
I’ve got plans for my little peach. I’m done being ignored. Done playing these games. She’s mine, and I’ll happily remind her of that fact.

Parker’s eyes are wide when she swings open the door, her stare swirling with fury and lust as it trails over me. “How the fuck did you get in here?”
A smile tugs at my lips, relief washing over me.
Showing up here on a Friday night was a risk. I wasn’t even sure she would be home. Or worse, that she would be here with some other guy.
But I think it’s safe to say she wasn’t expecting company. She’s wearing a pink pajama set that hugs her body perfectly, no makeup on her face, her hair pulled back in a ponytail.
God, she’s beautiful.
“The lovely woman from apartment A let me in. I believe she said her name was Sara Beth.”
I bite back a smile as a glimmer of jealousy lights up her pretty hazel eyes. “Of course, it is. Can’t trust a bitch with two first names.”
I chuckle, moving to crowd her space a little more. “You going to let me in or what?”
“No.” Her answer comes out low and breathy.
“I brought you a gift,” I tell her, holding up the discreet black bag in my hand.
Her stare falls to the bag, her brow lifted with recognition as it connects with mine again. “Is that what I think it is?”
It’s exactly what she thinks. I made a little stop at the Love Bound shop up the road. Something tells me she’s been there herself a time or two.
I smirk, shrugging. “You’ll have to let me in to find out.”
She considers it for a moment before letting out a relenting sigh, her lips pressed as she steps back and gestures for me to come inside. I don’t even try to hide my triumphant grin when I stroll past her, knowing I’ve already won this round. There’s no way she’s going to turn me down.
“Don’t look so cocky,” she says. “If I’m not interested in what’s in that bag, you’ll be going right back out that door.”
My smile grows as I hand her the bag. “I’m not worried.”
She liked her bullet so much the other night, it gave me an idea. I went into that store knowing exactly what to get, something that would allow both of us to get what we want.
She cocks an eyebrow and digs into the bag, her eyes flaring with interest as she pulls out the toy. By the time she meets my stare again, there’s no mistaking the hunger in her eyes. “So...youwant to play in public? I’ve got to say, this is a very clever ploy to get me to go out with you again. I’m certainly intrigued.”
