Emma turned and straddled him, yanking her skirt higher. “I don’t want to say no.”
Drawing her head slowly down to his, he invaded her mouth with a hungry kiss.
He couldn’t push his hands under her skirt, and instead touched her breasts. He mumbled the words, “Your skirt is too confining.”
She laughed into his kiss, “A pencil skirt seemed like a good idea this morning.”
Loosening his tie, she blindly undid the knot and removed it from his neck.
Leo unbuttoned the top button of his shirt.
Balancing on his lap, she could feel his erection through his pants.
Her phone rang and she told him, “That ring is for the hospital.”
Scrambling off of his lap, she pulled her phone from her handbag and answered the call. “Hello, Emma Bolles speaking.”
Someone from the hospital said, “Hi, I’m sorry to bother you, Ms. Bolles. The press has been here most of the day and we can’t persuade them to leave.”
“I’ll call my PR firm and see what can be done.”
After exchanging a few more reassuring words, Emma ended the call.
Leo placed a call to Alex and gave him instructions.
Emma picked up her heels and pulled them on. “Maybe I should ask one of my brothers to go to the clinic. Sam is out of the country, but Jeremy should be in London.”
“Let’s see what Alex can work out. It’s best not to involve the family yet. I don’t want a clip of someone speaking at the clinic to become the news.”
A short while later, the limousine pulled up to his building.
Thoughts about her father’s recovery haunted her. Her family didn’t need the added stress of the media hounding them while he lay in a hospital bed.
She turned to Leo. “What if they gain access to the clinic and get a photograph of him?”
He touched her knee. “Emma, the clinic has security and we placed a private guard there as well. They won’t gain access.”
She nodded. “He’s so vulnerable right now.”
Leo met her gaze. “Is your mother okay?”
Putting her phone back in her bag, she said, “She went to visit friends in New York for a few days.”
When the car pulled up to his building in Rotherhithe, the sidewalk was empty.
The driver opened the door and Leo got out and waited for her. Stepping out, she crossed the sidewalk and opened the small gate. Glancing back, she saw Leo hand the driver a few euros.
Walking into the building, she noticed the light streaming into the open areas. It wasn’t a proper home, but could be the perfect commercial space.
Turning, she said to Leo, “Have you re-considered hosting Francis Bolles here? It’s the perfect space. And the media doesn’t seem to bother this area.”
He shrugged. “Francis Bolles needs the media, but as we restructure, it could be good to have some space.”
Emma continued to look at the open area. “Have you considered having a business here?”
“At one point, I wanted to produce sailboats.”
She turned and looked at him. “Why didn’t you?”
