“Why are you calling me? Did you get away? Where are you?”
“I'm worried about you. I managed to escape Boris but I need you to get me. I don’t know how long I can hide from them. I don’t have a gun or anything. Where are you?”
Don’t tell me Mila. Use your damn head for once. I would never ask you that over the phone.
“Yeah, right, like I'm going to tell you where I am.”
Wham. Father slammed his hand down on the table.
“Anya. What was that noise? Who’s with you?”
I glared at him. “I’m using some man’s phone. He’s playing Dominos with friends. I must give him back his phone. You were right about not going back home. Boris was irate when he had to leave you. He hurt me, Mila. He hurt me badly. You might not trust me but if you don’t help me, the next time you see my body it’ll be as next of kin.”
“Of course, I trust you. Well, you never know who's listening. I don't know where I am.”
“I can get them to send someone for you. They can protect you. Viktor hasn’t let anything happen to me and he’ll protect you.”
Boris was in the kitchen now. If looks could kill Mila and I would be decomposing in our graves right now. “I don’t know Viktor or his men. It must be you. Are you coming or not? I have to go; I can’t stay out here in the open. You know Boris won’t rest until he has you and he’ll want to use me to force you home.”
“I swear to God, Anya, if this is a trap you will regret it. I'll meet you there in thirty minutes.”

Iarrived at the park ahead of time. Viktor wasn’t stupid so I was certain that he knew that I had contacted Mila. He was very patient with her, and he acted like he was in love with her. He might kill me after a stunt like this, but he would know that Father gave me no choice.
Idiot he might not care. You’re putting his wife in danger.
It hurt that Mila had sounded skeptical. That was an understatement, she had flat out refused to tell me her location. I hadn’t pressed her about it because the last thing I wanted to do was bring Father’s men to Viktor’s doorstep, even though I was certain he could handle himself. When it came down to it, I thought Viktor would win against a war with Father. Father was ruthless but Viktor was something entirely different.
Right on time, I glared at Boris. “I need to pee. Come on.”
He tilted his head. “Why the hell would I need to go with you?”
I shrugged. “The same reason you have searched me every five minutes since we arrived at the park, despite me not leaving your side. Just come on.”
“No, you can’t escape from inside there, and my men and I have checked this place thoroughly so go pee.”
Thank God. I hope Boris doesn’t change his mind.
Without another word, I entered the ladies’ room. I walked toward the last stall. A hand clamped over my mouth and pulled me inside.
I pushed away from Resul. Pressing a finger to my lips, I bent and removed the bug from my sock and handed it over to him.
“Boris will be here any minute and he will have men watching the windows. You need to be careful and leave now.”
He slid the bug in his pocket. “I want Viktor. I’ll be waiting around to see what you’re up to.”
I could get lucky and someone will shoot you in the face.
“It’s your funeral. I’m not planning to die here today. I walked out of the stall and into another one. I might not get to use the bathroom for a while so I needed to do it now. A part of me was relieved when I heard him sliding out the window. He needed to die and quick. This shit with him wouldn’t end until one or both of us was dead.
Why had I sent him anything? All it has done is get me in trouble while Father and Arkan continue to get richer.
Just in case Boris was outside the door, I didn’t flush the toilet. As soon as I opened the door, Jayden stood there.
Reaching into my sock, I handed him the bug. I moved passed him. I looked at my watch and I would need to leave here before Boris came in.
I turned around. “You need to leave asap. It’s dangerous and Boris is volatile and more unpredictable since Viktor took Mila.”
