We’re on the dance floor having a blast. I love this place. I don’t know why we don’t come here more often. It’s so much fun.
At some point, Jackson comes over and wraps his arms around Darian from behind. It’s been a few minutes, so he probably needs his Darian fix.
After another song or two, we go to sit down. Darian attempts to sit in a chair, but Jackson pulls her on to his lap, and kisses her neck repeatedly.
I look at her in disbelief. “You must have a magical pussy.”
Everyone starts laughing, including Darian. Jackson looks at me and mouths, “She does.” I laugh.
We have a few rounds of drinks, and lots of laughs. A good-looking guy asks me to dance, but I tell him I need a little more time with my friends.
The truth is I’m struggling with men lately. I’ve taken home a few, but none do it for me the way Trevor did. Obviously, the sex was amazing, but it was more than that. He sees me and understands me in a way that no man ever has. I can’t shake the spell he seems to have cast over me.
I don’t know what’s going to happen now that he’s back in town. I have a feeling he’ll be knocking on my door soon. It’s going to be hard not to let him in. I genuinely miss him.
We order our food, as we continue to drink and talk. Jackson asks Darian to go back to the dance floor. The two of them head out of the booth, while the rest of us stay put. He pulls her close, even though the song doesn’t call for it. That guy is too much.
I look at Alexandra. “How are all of your files coming along? The Bradley merger specifically?”
“Are we really talking work tonight?”
“Sorry. I didn’t get the chance to stop by your office yesterday.”
“Everything is fine. The Bradley merger is on track. Beth is helping me with it. You’re going to have to give her some of her own files soon. She’s being wasted as a second on these files.”
I know she’s right. “I guess you like Beth?”
She nods. “I do like her. She works hard, and is definitely very smart. She has a little edge too. She actually reminds me a lot of you. I think you’re her idol. She worships the ground you walk on.”
“As should you.”
She laughs. “You know it.”
“I agree though. I see what Steven saw in her. She’s pretty dynamic. She’s a good fit for our team.”
“You mean thePussy Posse?”
“Exactly.” I’m building a group of all female kickass M&A attorneys.
Brent laughs. “You guys call yourselves thePussy Posse?”
“No, Crazy Cassandra calls us that. No one else does.”
I narrow my eyes at her. “Yet. They don’t call us that yet. They will.” They both laugh.
“Beth is a little uptight at times though. She needs a man. She’s divorced, right?”
I nod. “Yes. I just told her she needs to start going out. She’s still licking the wounds of her divorce. She’s extremely attractive. I can’t imagine she’ll have issues once she puts herself out there.”
Alexandra agrees.
Our food arrives. I look to the dance floor to tell Darian and Jackson. They are fully making out with one another. She looks like she’s a minute away from mounting him. I think his hands are up her skirt.
I go and reluctantly drag them back to the table. Darian is not happy about it at all.
Alexandra and Gennifer talk about their kids. I kind of drown them out.
Darian is staring at Jackson with flushed cheeks. I know what that means. They whisper in each other’s ears. She clearly just said something that shocked him. At some point, they get out of the booth and say they’ll be right back. I know they won’t be back for a while.
