“We’re on our way to the hospital. Harley’s in labor.” She’s sounds frantic.
“What? Isn’t it way too early?”
“Yes. I’m freaking out. Can you come? I need you.”
“Of course. I’ll be right there.” I end the call.
“Beth, my niece is in labor. It’s a bit early in her pregnancy for that. I need to head to the hospital.”
“I understand. No problem. I can handle this stuff for you.” I’m grabbing my belongings as she’s talking. “I’ll finish up a few of these before I head out. I’ll update you when you return.”
“Thank you. There’s a chance I won’t be in tomorrow. Do you feel comfortable working on these? Obviously, I’m only a call away, and you can ask my associate Alexandra for help. She’s not in the office today, or I would have introduced you, but she will definitely be here tomorrow morning.”
“I’m fine. Just go. Good luck to your niece.”
“Thank you.”

TREVOR
I wake up in the morning to twenty missed calls and ten texts from Dad.
Dad: Call me.
Dad: 911
Dad: Call me now!
Dad: Wake up! Call me!
Holy shit. What the hell is happening? I dial his number. He picks up immediately. “Trevor?” He sounds frantic.
“Yes. I’m sorry. I just saw your calls and texts. What’s wrong, Dad?”
“Hold on one second.” I hear him walking away from noises into the quiet. “It’s Harley. She went into early labor last night. She delivered the baby in the middle of the night, and the baby seems to be doing okay, but Harley isn’t. Trevor, she’s not in good shape. Please come home.”
“Oh my god. I’m on my way. I should be there in about an hour and a half. Is Cassandra there?”
“Of course, she’s here. She’s been here all night. She’s with Darian, Reagan and Skylar. They’re all hysterical. Your brothers are here too, but I need some more help. You’re closest to all the girls. They need you.”
I’m quickly throwing things into a bag as we’re talking. “I’ll be there as soon as I can. Give everyone my love.”
“I will. Thanks. We’re on the fourth floor. In the waiting room.” We hang up. I’m freaking out.
I drive over a hundred miles an hour the entire way, praying that she’s okay by the time I get there.
I arrive at the hospital, and eventually find my way to the waiting room. Darian is cuddled on Dad’s lap hysterically crying. Cassandra is next to them, rubbing Darian’s back. She’s also crying. Brody’s sitting on the ground, with his back against the wall, and his head between his legs. Reagan and Skylar are on either side consoling him. They’re all crying and all embracing.
Payton and Hayden see me walk in, and run over to me. They both have tears in their eyes.
Hayden hugs me. I look at him. “What’s happened? Has there been any news?”
He shakes his head. “There were complications during the delivery. She pulled a blood clot. It went to her lungs. She’s in surgery now. Brody’s been completely freaking out because they won’t let him in. Security had to escort him back here, and now they’re guarding the doors.” He nods at the doors, where sure enough, I see two security guards.
“They told him if he tries to come into the O.R. again, they’ll kick him out of the hospital.”
I rub my face. “Holy shit.” I look at Hayden. “Is she going to be okay?”
