Somehow, on the way off the construction site this morning, I was talked into going to Collin’s dickhead brother’s house for dinner tonight. I expected Collin to make some excuse not to bring me, but he seemed excited at the prospect. It surprised me.

I’ve never met the family of a man I’m fucking, but his brother pissed me off, and for some reason I feel the need to defend Collin. If that’s how his family treats him, they’re about to get a piece of my mind.

I’m in Thor’s office. We’re showing Dominic a few models we’ve designed for an upcoming project of his. He seems happy with everything, though he keeps looking at his phone.

I look at him. “Is everything okay, Dom?”

He nods. “Yes, sorry.”

Just then his phone rings. He looks down and sighs. “Sorry, ladies. Do you mind if I take this quickly?”

I nod. “Go ahead.”

He answers, “Digame.”

“Sí.”

“No? Ay, Dios mio!”

“Estoy en camino.”

“Chao.”

He ends the call and looks up at us. “Sorry, I need to go pick up my daughter. Everything here looks perfect. Thank you. No changes are needed.”

He quickly exits the office.

I turn to Thor. “Did you know that Dom has a daughter?”

She shakes her head. “I’ve worked here with him for ten years and know literally nothing about him except that he’s sexy as hell. I thought he was married, but I’m not sure he is anymore. He never talks about his personal life.”

“Did I tell you I caught him a few months ago in a compromising position in his office?”

“No. Holy crap. Tell me about.”

I smile. “He was sitting at his desk. I couldn’t see anything below his waist, but I’m pretty sure a woman was under there. There was a dress thrown across one of his chairs.”

She places her hand over her mouth in shock. “Oh my god. What did you do?”

I shrug. “I decided not to humiliate him. I told him I needed to grab something from my office and then I locked his door behind me when I left.”

“Wow. Was it his wife?”

“I have no idea who it was.” I think for a moment. “I didn’t even know he spoke Spanish. Dominic Mazzello isn’t exactly a Latino name.”

“I guess you’re right. I never thought about it. Like I said, he keeps his personal life completely hidden from us. I know nothing about him. Speaking of personal life, what are you up to tonight?”

I sigh. “I somehow got hooked into meeting Collin’s family.”

I think she’d be less surprised if I told her I was growing a third eye.

“That’s a huge step, especially for you.”

“He’s metmyfamily.”

“Not as your boyfriend. He already knows your family. Are you officially boyfriend and girlfriend? Have you two admitted it yet?”

I shake my head. “No. We don’t need labels. We’re casual.”
