He tried to be gentle. Movements slow, his groans pained as he kept to a careful rhythm. Devin wanted none of it. She snarled and bit his shoulder. Hard. Enticing the male above her into a frenzied snap of his hips that had her head thrown back with a shriek of bliss.

“Shh, quiet,” Rey rasped against her ear, tucking Devin’s face against the broad stretch of his neck. “Don’t wake him.”

Confusion tried to worm its way in, to lay waste to the thrilling heat building within her in luscious waves. Rey growled deep in his chest, muffling her faint whine as he angled her hips higher. His next thrust was brutal, unrestrained passion as he burrowed deep to strike the very end of her. Grinding in against her cervix, he made Devin feel every inch of his hard length before he retreated to do again. Shoving guttural moans from her body with every snap of his hips, he fell into an erratic tempo. Unable to touch her enough, he squeezed her breast hard, mouthing the plumped mound before he moved to the other. Sucking at her neck, the tender spot behind her ear.

Threads of pleasure twined through her limbs. Drawing the long muscles tight to tremble in quivering anticipation. She moaned against his skin, licking and biting at neck and shoulder until her lips crossed her claiming mark.

Devin didn’t know why she did it. Setting her teeth into the vicious scar, she bit deep. Screamed at the sudden rush of ecstasy snapping through her body in a chaotic maelstrom as Rey’s hurried tempo increased. Slamming into her with careless greed. Taking what he needed from her.

His muttered curse lost in the tangle of her hair, his hand shoved between their bodies. Roughened fingertips found the taut bud of her clit. Smearing it in their joined fluids, he snarled a demand for her to come against her ear as he rubbed swift circles over the tender flesh.

Ratcheting her pleasure a thousandfold with the cruel swipes of his fingers, Devin bucked and jostled under the too much sensation. Flashes of heat stole through her, warming her in rushing waves. Building and building, they stacked to impossible heights. Dangling her over the edge of a molten pool she wasn’t sure she could withstand.

“You come for me, Devin,” Rey barked, pinching her clit with a merciless twist.

Devin screamed as she fell. Calling out his name, she clung to Rey as the molten wave rushed up to meet her. Plunging her deep into the roiling mass of it as her vision sheeted to white and her breaths came on trembling gasps. A wet mess of contractions gripped him, twisting over his cock to urge the Alpha to give her what she wanted.

His rhythm faltered, became savage. The knot grew huge. He shoved it in deep, stretching her wide as he roared. Locking deep behind her pelvic bone, he abused her clit to keep her soaring through the chaos of bliss as he jerked his hips in vicious, tiny thrusts. Working his knot deeper. Rubbing against a spot inside of her that had pleasure seizing her body, twisting it in his hands before Devin fell limp and breathless against the sheets.

Coated in a fine sheen of sweat, Rey rubbed against her. Smearing his scent all over her body as his roughened purr of satisfaction edged into a fierce growl. Demanding. Promising.

Rey gave her no rest. Playing her body as an instrument only he knew, he brought Devin tumbling over the edge again and again. Knotting her countless times until she whimpered and tried to protect the abused mound of tender flesh, only to have him slap her hands away as he feasted upon her. Mouthing her slick folds, teasing her with his tongue.

He didn’t let her fall back into the bed until Gabriel’s cries rang out in the early morning. Then he kissed her long and hard, the taste of them both strong on his tongue, before he let her drift into an easy slumber as he saw to their child.

Chapter Nineteen

Shame pulled at her limbs, making her movements slow as Devin crawled from the bed saturated in their combined scents. Her slick was thick and heady, and she gnawed at her lip as she wondered if he’d blame her for the suppressants not working. Devin took them each morning and night, he laid them out himself.

She should have denied him, told him not to touch her like that, but she couldn’t. It was Rey and she missed him so very much. It wasn’t even the sex. The way he’d looked upon her as if he adored her, the brilliant gleam in his eyes as he admired every inch of her flesh. Even the way he’d cuddled her close and purred into her tangled curls when it all became too much, and she was afraid she’d drift away.

“Morning, sweetheart,” Rey called from the kitchen, luring her in with a lazy smile and a gleam in his dark gaze as it swept over her rumpled body. His lips widened into a lascivious grin as he noted her mincing steps, how low her sweats rode her hips. “Still sore?”

“A little,” she said, easing into the chair with a gasp through her nose as the hard planks met her tender skin. Not just where his cock had bruised her, but his hands had gripped too hard.

“Maybe I’ll just taste you later, during his nap. Let you heal up some.” He made a considering noise, tipping the bottle he held up to Gabriel’s lips where the little guy sat in a bouncer.

“Don’t say that in front of him,” Devin stammered out, eyes cutting to the unconcerned infant as he sucked at the bottle in greedy pulls.

“Sweetheart, he doesn’t understand a word we’re saying.”

“You don’t know that.” Hands wringing in her lap, she cast her gaze down to the fretful working of her fingers. Spat out the words clamoring inside her skull before she could think better of it. “I’m sorry the suppressants aren’t working.”

“What suppressants?” Rey stilled, and it was only Gabriel’s plaintive cry that kept him from coming to her, his free hand reaching across the endless space to grip Devin’s chin hard. Jerking her eyes up to his, his brows formed a hard line above his darkened gaze. “What fucking suppressants, Devin? Where did you get them from?”

“The ones you’ve been giving me,” Devin mumbled through the pursed lipped pain he forced her mouth into. Her hand swept out, taking in the rows of bottles marching along the back of the counter.

“Devin, those aren’t suppressants. Haven’t you listened to a single word Dr. Annan’s been saying at your visits?”

She hadn’t. Devin drifted far away as the doctor prattled on, expecting anything of importance regarding Gabriel to be relayed to Rey. It’d been made clear Devin wasn’t in charge of the little one. Only now it seemed Annan hadn’t been talking about Gabe at all.

“They’re for the post-partum, sweetheart. I… After last night, I thought the anti-depressants were working.”

Devin stared hard at the blurring tabletop, blinking furiously to hold back the tide of tears. Anti-depressants? She’d had no idea. It suddenly made sense. The way he encouraged her to shower and eat more, letting her out of the house. Trying the nanny on for size to see if it would help relieve some of her tension. Letting Rey spend more time with her.

“Oh, Gods,” Devin whispered, clamping her hand over her mouth to muffle the miserable sound of her anguish.

“Shh, no, sweetheart. It’s okay, Devin,” Rey said through a rough purr, hooking his ankle around her chair to drag her closer. He brought her tight against him. Free arm wrapped tight around her back, he crushed Devin to his chest so he could force the comforting sound deep into her body. “I’m just glad you’ve gotten it out of your head that I was putting you aside.”
