Don’t take this too seriously.

This wasn’t forever. This was dealing with the chemistry neither of them had anticipated. He kissed her and she moaned. Desperate relief. Desolate yearning. The paradox of having but still wanting. Of not wanting it to be over yet wanting it allnow. She twisted, unable to contain the battle within.

‘Maia.’ He sealed over her. Pinning her down until she stilled.

She felt him draw in a deep shuddering breath and then any last little doubt was obliterated in the steamy passion of his next kiss. She could kiss him for all eternity. Lose all time, all sense of self.

He lifted her slightly, pushing her legs further apart with his. ‘You’re going to be mine, Maia.’

She shook her head and swept her hands over his shoulders, feeling the muscles working in his upper back. ‘No. You’re mine. Just for now.’

He smiled and slid his hand between her legs, guiding the way for the part she really wanted.

She gasped at his ultimate, absolute thrust of possession.

‘Maia?’ A guttural groan. ‘Am I hurting you?’ He asked hoarsely. ‘Ireallydon’t want to hurt you.’

‘I’m okay.’

‘Not the answer I wanted.’ His eyebrows flickered and his smile became strained as he ever-so-gently rocked within her.

But the moment of pain had passed and she drew a breath of pure erotic understanding. He was here. Hers. Caressing her from the very inside.

‘I like it,’ she breathed huskily.I like it. I like it. I like it.

He hauled her closer and she liked that even more, barely aware she was moaning exactly that. He surged a little harder, pushing them both closer to an edge from which were was no return. She understood and indulged the primal need to meet him. To rise. Her body hummed, dancing to the beat he set for her.

‘Hell, Maia.’ A throaty growl of encouragement and approval beneath which she heard his need sharpen.

‘Mmmmm?’ She arched higher, harder.

A low, sexy gust of laughter made her smile in response. And he kissed her for it. That this could feel so good stunned her. So,sogood—that just like that he tossed her into that place of heat and blinding, blinding light.

The place she now liked best of all.

Five minutes later she still hadn’t the energy to move but it was the most delightful exhaustion of her life. Warm bliss literally shimmered through her veins and every cell was smiling.

‘You’re okay?’ He was so very gentle.

She couldn’t wipe the smile from her face either. ‘Hmmm. I think so.’

He laughed again, the ultimate smug sound. ‘Have Ifinallypleased you, Maia?’

She thought about it for a moment, watched the gleam darken in his eyes and saw the lift to the edge of his mouth.

‘Honestly?’ She smiled at him with a teasing rush of freedom. ‘No. Not yet.’

CHAPTER TEN

DESPITEHEREXHAUSTION, sleep eluded her. Her mind buzzed—unable to process everything. What she’d done. What he’d done. How it had felt. Everything was new. She’d never actuallysleptwith someone before and barely slept in an actual bed let alone one as vast as this. She faced one way. Then rolled. Flipped onto her stomach. Rolled again.

‘Maia?’ His amusement was annoyingly audible.

‘How do people do this?’ She sighed irritably. After twenty minutes of trying she decided it was impossible. ‘I’m going to the hammock.’

‘Just hang on, Ms Impatience.’ Niko flicked a couple of buttons and cool air circulated more strongly in the room. ‘It’s just that you’re feeling overly sensitised.’

She was about to argue when he pulled her back against him, pressing her close so she was burrowed right into the curve of his body. He slung a heavy leg over hers and wrapped his arms right around her so she was tightly caged in his embrace. It would take a lot to wriggle free. He was like her personal weighted blanket—not just cocooning her, but anchoring her. It was absolute bliss. Her breathing settled. Even if she didn’t sleep it didn’t matter because she didn’t think she’d ever felt as content as she did right now.
