"Planning our breakup already?"
"No, but it's a possibility." I want to hug myself, but my hand is still trapped by Ryder.
He tugs me closer by his grip on me. “Of course, but we'd never let things get so bad that we cut you or especially Lexie out of our lives. We'd find a way to make things as easy on her as possible if the worst did happen. You can't protect her from everything, especially in this world."
"I know."
He cups my face, his thumb stroking my cheekbone. “You don't have to decide right now or even this weekend. None of this is going anywhere until you tell me you don't want me or us. Now, do you want to see everyone else's bedrooms too?"
I shake my head. “Maybe later."
He blinks. “Okay. What do you want to do instead?"
I grin. “I want to try out my new bed."
His eyes flare with heat. “Oh? Were you hoping for a nap?"
I shake my head again, backing him up towards the bed. “Nope."
"You just want to jump on it and see how bouncy it is?"
"I am hoping to test the bounciness of the mattress. Just not by jumping on it."
"What else would we be doing to test the bounciness?"
"Something like this." I shove his shoulders, sending him tumbling onto his back on the bed.
He bounces well and the bed frame doesn't make a sound. He grins up at me, reaching out for my wrists so he can yank me down on top of him.
And I press my lips to his, taking advantage of this stolen moment to taste him while I have the chance.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Moira
The weekend is like something straight out of a movie or a romance novel. The early days before calamity hits and the second act breakup.
