I flinch, and she giggles nervously.

“I’m sorry if I led you on, but I thought I was clear from the beginning.” I manage to keep her gaze as I speak my hard truths.

She sighs. “You were clear, I just hoped…”

I smirk. “That you’d be the one to change me?”

She chuckles. “Something like that.”

“Sorry to disappoint.”

She throws her hands up making her big tits jiggle, and I feel absolutely nothing.

Fucking hell!

“No harm, no foul. I’m a big girl, and I’ll get over you.” She leans in conspiratorially. “Even though, technically, I was never under you.”

We both laugh.

“A shame that.”

“Well, I’m always open…”

I shake my head. “No matter how tempting,” even though it’s not tempting at all, “I better not.”

She nods resolutely. “As you wish, Mistress… Oh, well, I best not call you that anymore.”

Uncomfortable, I rise from the bed, irritated at how unsteady my legs are, but I hold strong.

“If you’re okay, I’ll leave you to get dressed. And don’t think you have to hurry out. Please enjoy the rest of the party.”

“Are you kidding? Now that I’m back on the market for a new Mistress, I’ll be sure to shake my tail all over this house.”

A tinkle of shaky laughter escapes as I back toward my door. “Enjoy.”

Then, I’m rushing away before I do something stupid, like begging her to stay just so I don’t have to confront my real problem. The one that actually makes me feel something when it’s the last thing I need. But I know if I don’t deal with this now, she’ll just keep showing up until she wears me down.

And I just… can’t.

When I return to my den where I had my demonstration, it’s still filled with mingling party goers but not my little hummingbird. I search every room, but she’s not there. With the fear that she left, I run out my front door ready to chase her, and that’s where I found her sitting alone on my front stoop.

She glances up, and I’m hit in the gut with a bowling ball when I find tears in her eyes.

Before I can question what the hell I’m doing, I drop to her side and grab up her hands to cradle to my chest. That’s when I realize I’m outside and practically naked but that can’t be helped. I have more important things to worry about, and number one on that list is why my little hummingbird is crying.

“What are you doing out here all alone?”

She tries to pull away, but I hold firm. The fight doesn’t last long before she gives in too easily.

“I shouldn’t have come. I see that now.” She lets loose a watery laugh. “I always knew I wouldn’t fit in here, but I let Caleb talk me into it.”

Caleb?

How does she know my best friend?

But more importantly. “Why in the world would you think you don’t belong?”

She cocks her head making her appear like the most adorable puppy. “Seriously?”
