“Even if you don’t show up at home or call Mayor Bailey for weeks at a time, he’ll never suspect anything,” he continues. “It’s the same with your friends. You don’t stay in touch with them anymore.”
Kaida’s worried face rises in my mind. I rarely reply to her messages anymore, so even she won’t know if something happens to me.
“It doesn’t matter,” I say, forcing myself to stay brave. “They’ll eventually know what you did to me.”
“Will they?” he asks, chuckling. “I will tell them you broke up with me to get together with someone else. They’ll have no choice but to believe I had no hand in your disappearance.”
“Why do you keep saying that?” I ask. “How am I going to disappear? Are you seriously planning to kill me?”
“Nah,” he whispers with a cold smile. “Your death would be such a waste. An omega, who’s as beautiful as you, is worth thousands of dollars when you’re alive and kicking, honey.”
“Then, what...”
“Sshh...” He presses a finger to my lips. “Your father and your friends won’t have a clue as to what happened to you. Even the cameras in the hotel won’t see you leaving. It’ll be like you disappeared in thin air.”
Fear shoots through me. “What are you going to do to me?” I scream, struggling against him.
“I’m sending you somewhere far away,” he says, wrapping his arms around me in a suffocating hold. “Just know that I’ve enjoyed our time together. No other omega made me come as hard as you, darling. You hate pain but you always ask for more...all to please me.”
My voice cracks. “Then, why? Why are you doing this to me?” My body trembles as loud, painful sobs escape me.
“It’s all business. You were supposed to be my ticket out of my dead-end job at the senator’s office. I was never meant to fall in love with you, but I must admit something. I’ll miss you, Rory.” He presses a kiss to my cheek as I shake uncontrollably.
Next second, a sharp needle pierces the skin of my neck.
I struggle against him but it’s useless. The drug he’s injected in me starts working within seconds. I feel my arms growing heavier and soon, lose all control over them.
Within a minute, a heavy veil descends over my senses, blacking me out completely.

Aurora
The pitch blackness in my vision slowly fades away. My eyes blink open to a dimly lit space but my mind is still so hazy, I can barely make out where I am.
Swallowing dryly, I try to move my arms and legs. My muscles ache from the movement but at least, I’m not tied up anymore.
My vision improves gradually, giving me a sense of my surroundings, but it does little to make me feel better.
Steel bars materialize before me, followed by glimpses of rough cement walls. Sitting up slowly, I look all around me, finally seeing two other women in the far corner of the cell. They’re sitting on the floor and simply looking at me.
“Hello?” My voice is low and scratchy as I try to speak through my parched throat.
The women don’t respond but I can feel their gaze on me.
“Where am I?” I ask.
No answer.
Using the steel bars for support, I get to my feet and approach the strangers. The dim lighting doesn’t allow me to make out their facial features but I realize they’re wearing the same loose clothes as me.
Where did I get this thing from?I wonder, looking down at the flowing, rough fabric.
Before I can ask them anything else, a loud static noise fills the cell.
“You exist for the pleasure of an alpha,” A male mechanical voice announces. “Submitting to an alpha will bring you the greatest joy of your life. They’re your god and you must do everything to make them happy.”
“What a load of bullshit!” I blurt, finally spotting the overhead speaker that’s blaring utter nonsense.
