“After how you screamed at him at the brewery where everyone in town could hear you, a grand gesture is required,” Moon adds.
This is getting out of hand. I agreed tothink aboutgetting back together with Miller, but they’re acting as if it’s a foregone conclusion. It’s not.
Coward sissy chicken,my inner voice reminds me. I shush it.
Chapter 33
I heard Walmart has balls on sale if you need to pick some up ~ Text from Elder to Miller
Miller
It’s been two days since Eden ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. I hope two days is enough time for her to get over her anger because I’m done waiting to talk to her.
That’s the entirety of my plan. Talk to Eden. She doesn’t want some grand gesture. She wants honesty and faithfulness. I’m here to give her whatever she wants.
I exit the brewery and hang a right on Main Street. As I pass the courthouse, Sage runs outside.
“Hi, Miller.”
I grunt and continue on my way.
She follows me. “How are you this morning?”
Clove hurries out ofClove’s Coffee Cornerand joins Sage.
“Good morning, Miller.”
I nod and increase my pace.
We passEarth Blissand Olivia waves at me before giving me a thumbs-up. I frown. Why is she giving me a thumbs-up?
The door toFeather’s Frozen Delightsflies open and Feather rushes outside.
“Just in time,” she says as she starts walking behind me with Sage and Clove.
Crap. Are all of the gossip gals going to tail me this morning?
I increase my pace again, but when I glance behind me, Sage, Clove, and Feather are keeping up with me without a problem.
“Wait for me,” Petal calls from across the street where she’s exiting her candle store,Sensual Scents.
Fuck me. I should have used the alleyways behind Main Street.
“Did someone alert Cayenne?” Petal asks as she catches up to my entourage.
“Are you questioning me?” Sage asks.
Good. If they fight amongst themselves, maybe they’ll forget about following me. I make a sudden left turn, but when I check behind me, all the gossip gals are still keeping up. In fact, they smile and wave at me.
Shit. I’m not going to talk to Eden with the gossip gals listening in. Groveling to her is going to be difficult enough.
I do the one thing I can. I break into a run.
“You can’t outrun us!”
“Yeah, big guy, we know where you’re going!”
I guess I’ll just have to make it look as if I’m not on my way to Eden’s house. I take another sudden left and make my way back toward Main Street.
