“I’m going to kiss you now.”
“Do you always announce your intentions?”
“I do when I’m worried the woman might kick me in the balls.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Why don’t you kiss me and find out?”
“Challenge accepted,” he grumbles as his head descends.
I don’t have the patience to wait. I grasp his neck and use the leverage to raise myself until our lips touch. I shove my tongue into his mouth – I need another hit of his musky taste – and he growls before trying to assume control.
I may be a peace loving hippie, but I am not a passive lover. I duel with his tongue for dominance until he grunts and fists my hair to keep my head steady. I melt at the display of his dominance. Literally, melt into the table. The bones in my body disappear with a whoosh of my belly.
“Am I interrupting?”
I yank my mouth away from Miller’s and glance over to discover Juniper at the entrance to the barn. I press on Miller’s shoulders but he doesn’t budge.
“This isn’t over,” he grumbles. I shiver at the sound of his husky voice. I’m afraid he’s right.
He waits for my nod before lifting his body from mine and helping me off of the table.
“This isn’t…” I trail off when I realize I’ve lost Juniper’s attention.
She’s staring at the room with tears in her eyes. “It’s perfect,” she whispers.
Pride fills me. “I’m glad you like it.”
“Like it? I love it!” She rushes forward and picks up the wooden sign Riley made with her and Maverick’s name on it plus today’s date – their wedding date. She hugs it to her chest. “Everything is wonderful.”
“Juniper!” Harmony yells as she enters the barn. “You promised you wouldn’t check up on me today.”
“I’m not.”
Harmony crosses her arms over her chest and glares at her boss.
“She’s checking up on me,” I say.
“I…um…” Juniper stumbles over her words.
I wave away her apology. “Don’t worry. I get it. I wouldn’t have trusted me to do this either.”
Miller scowls. “Why not?”
I ignore him. A scowl is entirely too sexy on his face. My mind flashes back to him pinning me to the table and my body warms. I clear my throat. No sexy thoughts about Miller. He’s your enemy, remember?Enemy schemeny. Let’s get naked and do dirty things with him.
“Ahem. Is there anything else I can do before I clean up?”
I cringe when I notice all the boxes and extra pots and plants and candles scattered everywhere on the floor.
Miller grunts and starts picking things up.
I go to help him. “I’ll help.”
“I’ve got this.”
I roll my eyes. “Whatever.”
“Juniper,” Ashlyn warns, “you better get your butt back in this golf cart within thirty seconds or I’m telling Mom.”
